Southern Desire (Southern Heart 2) - Page 61

He melts my heart. “All right then,” I manage to say. He grins, puts the truck in drive, and we’re headed to the Ford dealer.

“We’re doing what?” she asks.

I can’t help but laugh at her. “We’re going fishing.”

She looks outside and back to me. “At night?”

Evan laughs. “Fishing in the dark. Come on, you’ve heard the song.”

I watch as she thinks about it. “Yeah, I mean I’ve heard it, but why are we doing it?”

“It’s fun,” McKinley assures her. “Mom and Dad are keeping the kids. We thought the four of us could go.”

“I, uh, I don’t touch fish or worms or whatever else I need for this adventure.”

“Spoken like a true city girl,” I tease, wrapping my arms around her. I got my cast off a week ago, and that’s the first thing I did, held her tight with both arms.

“Humph.”

“Come on, Whit, let me give you another country first.”

“Fine, but you touch the worms, and if I do catch anything, I’m not touching it,” she grumbles.

“Come on, you,” I say, leading her outside.

“Whit, how do you like your Explorer?” Evan asks her.

“I love it.”

“I tried to get her to get the Expedition, but she refused.”

“It was too big. Besides, what do I need a big vehicle like that for? It’s just me—well, and you.” She elbows me.

I stop in my tracks, causing Evan and McKinley to come to a stop as well. “Because, my dearest Whitney, one day we’re going to have babies. Lots of babies, and we’re going to need the space.” I kiss her quickly and start walking again. I have to tug on her arm to get her to move. Evan and Kinley are cheering while my girl’s mouth is still hanging open.

“Our stuff is already in the truck. We’ll meet you out there,” Evan says, laughing as they walk toward his truck.

“What’s wrong, baby?” I smirk at her.

“You just. . . . In front of them, you just. . . .”

“I did. I told you, I want it all. With you.” I kiss her nose and release her to gather what we need for a night of fishing.

“This is cruel,” she says, watching me wrap a worm around her hook.

“It’s nature.”

I hold the hook up to show her and she shudders. “I don’t think I’m a fan of this night fishing business.”

“No?” I ask.

She shakes her head. One pole ready to go, I stand and hold my hand out for her. “Come with me.” We walk to the other side of the pond, opposite Evan and Kinley. I stand behind her and place the pole in her hands. “Hold it like this. Good, now you need to push down on the button and then do this.” I bring the pole back over our shoulders and then cast it. “Let go of the button.” She does as instructed. “Got it?” I ask her.

“Yeah. Do I just stand here and hold it?”

“You can. Or you can set it on the pole holder.” I point down to one of the many holders hidden in the grass on the edge of the pond. We used to fish out here a lot.

“Then what?”

“Well, we can sit in this chair, you on my lap, or there is a blanket in the back of my truck.”

“Aaron! Kinley and Evan are right over there.” She points to the other side of the pond.

“Where? All I can see is three bobbers glowing in the night.”

She turns to look, and that’s when she gets it. The darkness hides us. Kinley giggles and it reaches us. “They can’t see us, and if I know Evan, he plans on taking full advantage of his alone time with his wife.”

“Your sister.” She smirks.

“Yeah, I used to give him a hard time about that and correct him. Partly because she was my sister first and partly because I know it gets under his skin, but I can see the merit of wanting the world to know.”

“You can, huh?”

“Yep. You can bet your sweet ass that when the day comes that I can call you my wife, I will make sure it’s a well-known fact.”

“Uh-huh.” She wraps her hands around my neck and pulls me in for a kiss.

“I need to get that blanket,” I say against her lips.

“This is a true country experience, right?”

“Uh-huh.” I kiss her again.

“So what do you suggest? Right here, with what we have, what do you suggest?”

“Take off your shorts,” I instruct her. She does what I say. Once they are unbuttoned, she rests her hands on my shoulders one at a time to slide her legs out. “Panties too,” I say, my voice gruff. She tosses them both in the chair. She’s standing before me in nothing but a tank top, her bra, and a pair of flip-flops. I reach for my wallet to retrieve a condom and come up empty. “Shit,” I hiss.

“I thought you were a Boy Scout?” she teases.

I rake my fingers through my hair. Damn it. I should have made sure after our tryst at her place this morning to replace it. Even though the cast is off, I still sleep there every night. No way am I giving that up.

“I’m clean,” she whispers.

“So am I.”

“I mean, I know that’s a big step, but I’m on birth control as you know, and well, I just thought. . . .”

“Yes,” I growl. “I want nothing more than to feel all of you.”

“This is your game, cowboy. How do you want me?”

I grab the cowboy hat from my head and rip off my shirt, tossing them both into the chair. I unbutton my shorts and let them fall to my feet. “Hands around my neck.” She does as I ask. I place my hands on her hips. “Jump up and wrap your legs around my waist.” She again complies. My cock is rock-hard as it seeks out her heat.

“Like this?” she whispers, her lips close to mine.

“Yeah, baby, like this.” I keep one arm under her ass, holding her up. The other reaches for my cock and I guide myself in. I don’t stop until I’m buried deep. She moans my name, resting her forehead against mine.

“It feels different,” she says softly.

“So different,” I agree. I’ve never been bare, and this is just. . . . The way her silk wraps around me. The sensation of her walls squeezing me, it’s like nothing I have ever felt. And suddenly I’m addicted. “No more.” I breathe out as I lift her slowly and then bring her back down. “No more condoms. This is. . . .” I bite down on my bottom lip when she wiggles her hips and pushes down on me.
