The Butterfly Effect (Boggy Creek Valley 1) - Page 110

“Make love to me, Aiden.”

A sexy smile tugged at the corner of his mouth as he whispered, “It would be my pleasure.”

New Year’s Eve

“Holy crap, you look amazing!” Lacy said, stepping into the room Bree had assigned as the bridal suite. Aiden was getting ready in another room with Hunter.

I turned and smiled as my sister walked in, her sleeping son in her arms. “How is Jacob this morning?”

Lacy beamed with happiness and stole a quick peek at her newborn son. “He’s amazing and has promised not to utter a sound during the ceremony.”

I walked over to them and peeked at the sleeping boy. “He’s so precious, Lacy.”

“I know he is. I didn’t think my heart had so much love to give out, but it does. I love him so much, and every day I see Connor and the kids together, my heart feels like it’s going to burst. When he holds Jacob and looks over at me with a huge smile on his face, I swear I fall more in love with him. And Lilly…” A single tear slipped free and made a slow path down my sister’s face. “She is so precious with Jacob. I just love her. God, I’m a mess. I love everyone!”

Laughing, I kissed my sister on the cheek after I brushed her tear away. “You sure you feel up to being my maid of honor?”

“Hell yes! The first time I was hungover, remember?”

I rolled my eyes. “How could I forget. You were hell-bent on keeping me out late so I’d miss my own wedding.”

Lacy gave me an evil smile. “And it almost worked. If only you hadn’t been pregnant, I would have gotten you drunk as well.”

“I should have listened to you and made a run for it,” I said, turning to look at myself in the mirror. “Bree has outdone herself with this dress.”

Walking up next to me, Lacy let out a low whistle. “She really needs to tell me what shops she’s going to in Boston. I swear this dress looks like it was made for you.”

Once again, I let out a chuckle. “I wouldn’t be surprised if it was. The moment Bree found out about the wedding, she asked for my measurements. I’m pretty sure she paid a fortune for this to be made, but she insisted it was a wedding present.”

“Well, all I can say is the moment Aiden sees you in this dress, he’s going to haul you off somewhere and have his way with you.”

I felt my cheeks flush, and Lacy gasped. “Oh. My. God. Have you two already done it today?”

When I blushed more, she shook her head. “You already had sex with Aiden today.”

Spinning around, I warned, “Keep your voice down! Mom and Rose are right outside! And yes. I have.”

I placed my hand over my mouth, and we both fell into a giggling fit like two schoolgirls.

She reached up and wiped away a fictitious tear. “I’ve never been so proud in my entire life. Give me all the deets.”

With a quick glance at the door to make sure it was closed, I looked back at Lacy. “He climbed the lattice outside the house and snuck in here. I was dressed only in my panties and matching bra and had just clipped the last garter belt onto my stocking.”

“Where was Brighton?” Lacy asked, since it was Bree who was supposed to be helping me get dressed.

“Outside, showing Aiden which window to climb up to.”

Lacy giggled and rolled her eyes. “I always did like her.”

“Anyway, Aiden claimed he only wanted to talk, but the moment he saw me, his eyes went dark…and let’s just say standing-up sex is a lot of fun.”

“How do you think Jacob came along?”

We broke into another round of laughter just as the door to the room opened and Bree rushed in. “Okay! Everything is set, and my parents are over-the-moon happy you’re getting married here at the Willow Tree!” she exclaimed.

I wasn’t sure how I would ever thank Ron and Joanne for letting us use the Inn to get married. It was one of my favorite places, especially when it was decorated for the holidays. It was a historical salt-box house with five bedrooms and five bathrooms. Wide pine planks in every room added to the warmth, not to mention the large kitchen, dining room, two sitting rooms, and the library, which were all open to guests of the inn. When it wasn’t winter, the backyard was stunning, with brick-paved sidewalks leading you through a garden that would be any flower lover’s dream. The large staircase was the centerpiece of the house when you first walked in, and it was currently wrapped in tulle and garnished with beautiful flowers. Aiden and I were getting married in the large heated sunroom that overlooked the beautiful backyard, which was currently covered in a fresh dusting of snow.
