King (The VIP Room 3) - Page 38

“Henry’s mailing me a couple of other packages, too. I thought, since you would be doing a show for me, you might as well have a costume.”

“Which one?” Evie’s head raised a fraction of an inch.

“The red lace one for me, and the dominatrix for you.”

When Evie’s head lowered again, sucking him to the back of her throat, he groaned as her tongue curled around him, her fingers going for his balls. Her mouth then slid up his length again.

“Did you tell him to mail the flogger, too?”

“That, I might have forgotten.” Evie started to rise up, but the hand in her hair prevented her. “I thought you might want to pick your own out online.”

“That’ll work.” Her head went back down, her mouth closing over him again.

“Of course, I get to try it out first.” That was a win-win situation as far as she was concerned.

When he was about to come, he used his hand in her hair to take her mouth off his nearly bursting cock. Leaning forward, he maneuvered her to straddle him, sinking every inch into her wet pussy. Taking a nipple in each hand to rub, he watched his cock disappear inside her.

“I think we should go out of town next weekend.” King said, watching her nipples thrust out, begging to be sucked. He leaned forward, licking one.

Evie was about to come, sliding up and down his dick. Her fingers went to her clit as he fucked her. “Okay.” She was barely paying attention the more her orgasm climbed.

“I’ve wanted to get my cock pierced. What do you think?” He grinned against her breast.

Evie came, her knees gripping King’s hips as she ground out her orgasm until she lay weak and spent on his chest. “I think that’s an excellent idea.”

* * *

Evie answered the knock at her door. She had come downstairs to get more boxes. King wanted her to move in with him, and as much as she loved her new house, she wanted to live with him more.

The bedroom was a constant reminder of the men that had been killed upstairs. The tragedy that had almost happened had her anxious to finish getting her things packed to avoid going up there anymore.

She wasn’t surprised to see Knox on the other side of the door. He had called earlier to ask if he could stop by.

“Hey, Evie.”

“Knox.” She closed the door behind him. “Want a cup of coffee?”

“Sounds good.”

They went in to the kitchen where Evie poured them both a cup.

Knox leaned against the counter drinking his.

“What’s the news you said you needed to tell me?”

“The IDs came back on the men. They were from Georgia.”

Evie leaned shakily against the counter. Evie knew her sister hated her, but to do so to the extent of actually having someone kill her was frightening. There was no doubt in her mind Brooke was responsible for the break-in.

“I asked the police to check into a possible connection with Brooke and the men. They informed me that there wasn’t enough evidence to pursue an investigation.

“My father’s family has a lot of influence.”

“So I’ve gathered. I asked a couple of my buddies stationed there if they would check into it for me, though. We both know she’s covered her tracks, and as all the intruders are dead, it’s not like we can get them to turn on her. We’re pretty much at a standstill until something turns up. I’m sorry, Evie.”

“It’s what I expected.” Evie set her cup down on the counter next to his. “I can’t believe she hates me so much as to actually try to kill me.”

“The thing is, from how you described the break in, I don’t believe you were the main target.”

Evie felt the color drain from her face. The fact she was related to someone so evil turned her stomach.

Knox took her into his arms, holding her close. “It will be all right. Shade is watching out for Lily, and King has your back. She’s not stupid enough to try something again. She knows we’re on to her.”

“So she gets away again scot-free?”

“I’m afraid so.”

Evie gave a bitter laugh. “She was responsible for my rape, and indirectly, Levi’s and Sunshine’s deaths, now this. They would still be alive if not for me.” The guilt she had harbored inside for years showed in her haunted eyes. She had punished herself in every possible way for living while they had died.

“Evie, you weren’t responsible for either of their deaths. Levi was killed in a fight, and Sunshine was killed by a bomb. Levi could have left the bar earlier, and Sunshine knew the dangers when she joined the service.”

“But… If I hadn’t gotten raped, then neither of them would have been there.”

“You. Were. Not. Responsible for your rape! Those bastards were. I’ve told you this over and over. Evie, believe me; after Sunshine died, I wanted someone to blame, to help me deal with the pain, so believe me when I say it wasn’t your fault. Are you finally going to believe me?”

Evie nodded her head against his chest.

“You’re happy now?”

“Yeah. Diamond and I are meant to be together. No one else could put up with her nuttiness. She practically turned our spare bedroom into a bomb shelter. You?”

Evie laughed, raising her head. “Yes, but King couldn’t fix a leak if his life depended on it.”

“I can’t, either. Rider was always the handyman.”

“I don’t know about that,” Evie joked, pulling away to refill their cups.

As she turned, she heard King coming down the steps. Reaching into the cabinet, she pulled out another cup.

“Knox,” King greeted him when he entered the room.

“King.” The men looked at each other guardedly.

Evie poured King his coffee as Knox repeated what he had told her about the break in.

Evie handed King his cup, meeting his worried eyes.

“There’s nothing else we can do?”

“No.”

“Is it safe for Lily to be at the church store?”

“I believe so. Brooke is smart; she’s not going to do anything that will cast suspicions on her,” Knox said grimly, setting down his cup. “I better be getting back to the office. Take care, Evie.”

“I will.” Evie walked him back to the door. When she returned to the kitchen, King was sitting at the table, looking thoughtful.

“You don’t seem upset.” he said.

“It was what I expected.” Evie sat down at the table. “I’m praying Brooke will be frightened she almost got caught.”

“If not?”

“She fucked up this time, whether she realizes it or not. I have every confidence that Shade will deal with Brooke.”

“The sooner the better.”

Evie gave a sarcastic laugh. “She has no idea of who she’s dealing with, King.”

He started laughing.

“What’s so funny?”

“I never thought I would see the day that I was actually glad Shade’s a cold-hearted bastard.”
