The Lone Star Cinderella - Page 39

“Getting warmer every second,” she said.

Smiling, he parted her thighs and knelt between them, pausing long enough to slide the tip of one finger along her folds, making her shiver.

She planted her feet on the bed and lifted her hips into his touch. Licking her lips, she murmured, “Please, Dave. No more waiting.”

“No more waiting,” he agreed and entered her in one long stroke.

Mia gasped, looked up into his eyes and sighed as she reveled in the sensation of him filling her. He was part of her. His body and hers locked together. She wrapped her arms around his neck and didn’t take her gaze from his as he moved within her. Over and over again, he rocked his hips against hers, setting a rhythm that she eagerly matched. They moved as one, their bodies each straining toward a shattering climax.

Their sighs and groans filled the room like music. Sunlight speared through the windows and spotlighted them on the wide bed as they came together in a need that swamped everything else.

Mia held on to him as tension gripped her, coiling tighter and tighter. She moved with him, met him stroke for stroke. She slid her hands up and down his back and felt his muscles bunch.

This moment was all. Nothing beyond this room—this time—mattered.

She stared into his fog-gray eyes and watched her own reflection there as her body erupted. Mia called out his name and clung desperately to him as a shock wave thundered through her.

She was still trembling when Dave reached the same peak she had. And together, they slid down the other side into completion.

Eight

Dave was shaken, but damn if he’d admit it—even to himself.

Lying there on Mia’s bed, with her curled up to his side, he stared at the ceiling and tried to understand just what the hell had happened.

He’d put her in this guest room on purpose. So she’d be close enough to make seduction that much easier. Problem was, he was the one who had been seduced. And that hadn’t been part of the plan at all.

“That was so good,” Mia murmured, her warm breath brushing across his chest.

“Yeah, it was.” Better than good, he thought, frowning a little as his brain began to click again now that the burn in his body had eased some. He’d figured from the beginning that getting Mia naked would take care of the desire that pumped through him every time he was near her. Instead, his body was stirring already at the feel of her hand stroking slowly across his chest.

Until today, he hadn’t had a woman in more than six months. Just hadn’t had the time or the inclination. Now it made sense, he thought. He’d needed a woman badly, so it was no wonder he’d been so frantic to get his hands on Mia.

The question was, why had the sex been so off-the-charts great? His mind was sluggish but still trying to find a way to save his ass. He’d spent more time with Mia than he had with any of the other women in his life. He knew her—had seen her at Alex’s house. Talked with her in town. It was a connection that he’d always avoided with women before now, so of course the sex would be more…personal. More… Hell. Just more.

“I wonder if Delores has any chocolate cake left?” she murmured.

Dave laughed and looked down at her. Here he was, thinking about taking another bite out of her and she had already moved on to chocolate. Humbling to know your woman was more interested in your housekeeper’s home-baked desserts than she was in taking another ride.

Changing her mind about that was just the kind of challenge Dave liked best.

He went up on one elbow and looked down at her. “Chocolate cake’s got nothing on what I’m about to give you.”

“Really?” She lifted one hand to stroke her fingers along his chest.

Dave hissed in a breath. “Oh, yeah. When I’m done, you won’t even remember what chocolate is.”

As he slid down along her body, he felt her shiver and heard her whisper, “I can’t wait…”

A few days later, Dave sipped his coffee and looked out the diner’s window at the town of Royal, going about its day. He was tired. Hadn’t been getting much sleep lately. He smiled to himself. Hell, once he and Mia had gotten started, there’d been no stopping either of them.

After their first night together, Mia had moved her things into the master bedroom and, Dave had to say, he was liking having her there. Strange because until Mia, he had never spent the night with a woman. It had always been get some, get gone. Easy. Uncomplicated. No expectations. No strings.
