Of Fae and Hate - Page 17

The vamp lets out a scoff.

The rest of the class files in and five minutes after the class start time, the actual teacher walks in, and man is he something to look at. Tall with tan skin, chestnut brown hair with muddy silver strands spread through it, and scruff on his face. His tie is flying slightly and he looks more than a little uncomfortable in the slacks and button up. Papers are hanging out of the top of his bag which he discards under his desk as if it’s trash.

He picks up a piece of paper off of his desk before moving around to the front of it, sitting his butt just on the front edge. He props a hand up behind him, his eyes moving over the paperwork as his jaw works.

Finally, he looks up and a scowl crosses his face. “Brynsyn, I told you if I have to wear shirts to class, so do you.”

That same mischievous chuckle comes from the back of the class and it's all I can do not to turn around and look at him. There’s something about the man that demands your attention.

“Sorry, teach, I’ll do better tomorrow.”

“Sure you will,” the teacher huffs sarcastically. He pushes up one of his sleeves before shifting the paper to his other hand and going the same with his opposite arm. His exposed forearms are dusted with hair but I can’t help admiring the bulge of muscle and inked skin.

My eyes drift up to his face again and I wonder if he’s a recent graduate. It's hard to tell ages with fae, just because they’re nearly immortal, aging at a snail’s pace. He could be anywhere from thirty to three hundred. Looks wise he appears to be in his mid twenties, definitely no older than early thirties.

Definitely too hot to be a teacher.

“This is the beginner’s class to potions, I’m your professor, Misael Clarkkot. You’re allowed to call me by my first name, because my sister works here as well and the last name gets too confusing. This class will be as easy as you make it, but know I won’t put up with your shit,” definitely young, “the way the rest of the professors do. I don’t care about whose daddy funds the school or whose mom is on the board.” His gaze moves through the room as if to hammer down his warning. “Let's go through the roll call list and we’ll get started.”

He moves through the list and I raise my hand when my name is called.

“Alik Tudow.”

“Here,” the unmistakable grumble belongs to the vamp and I log his name away.

Alik Tudow.

A name just as pretentious as the vampire himself.

“Clemmentime Thorn.”

“Clemmen or Time,” Clemmentime snaps out from beside me. Her feet are still kicked up on my desk and she’s still chewing her gum as if it’s the only thing getting her through.

Professor Misael’s head swivels, his gaze locking on her. He pauses, his eyes narrowing slightly. Clemmentime returns the look. “You’ve got a problem with the name your parents gave you, Clemmentime?”

“I said it's Clemmen or Time, and I’ve got a lot of problems with my parents, but I don’t suppose that’s your problem, Professor.”

The air feels charged and I have to stop from moving my seat away from Clemmentime to get away from the tension.

Somehow the teacher’s eyes narrow further and his eyes moved to Clemmen’s propped feet. He opens his mouth to say something before snapping his lips closed and shaking his head. “What’s on my roll is what I’ll call you, Clemmentime,” he finally says. Before Clemmen can reply, he’s moving onto the next name on his list and I can tell from the twist of her lips that she doesn't appreciate that.

When he’s finally done with the list, I note that he didn’t call Brynsyn’s name and I’m just wondering why when he points to the back of the classroom. “I know most of you know Brynsyn Challard as a peer, but in this class he’s my teaching assistant. You’ll treat him with respect and you won’t try to bribe him into getting your grade changed.”

“But if you do want to try to bribe me, a blowjob is always a great place to start,” Brynsyn interjects.

The teacher pinches the bridge of his nose.

“Brynsyn,” he says in warning.

“Okay,” Brynsyn says in surrender and I can just imagine he has a grin on his face, based on the humor I hear in his tone.

The rest of the class goes smoothly as Professor Misael goes over what seems to be a chaotic syllabus. He’s sarcastic and relaxed and I decide I like him, even though I can tell Clemmentime feels the exact opposite.

When class is over, I gather my bag, rechecking my schedule for the day. I don’t really like that the classes are different depending on the day, because I know that I’m going to get my days mixed up more than a couple of times. But at least it means I don’t have to seen Alike everyday at the same time.

Hopefully I’ll only have the two classes with him and that’ll be it.

I know he has to be beyond his first year, so we probably won’t have too many classes together. Clemmentime says a bunch of the students skip their basic necessity classes the first few years and have to cram them in in their later years, which is why I’m guessing Alik’s in the beginner’s potion class.
