Of Fae and Hate - Page 2

But I have no doubt that's exactly what the vampire is doing. He looks out, his gaze searching the quad for something. Briefly, his eyes stop on me and I tense up, staring back at him. He tilts his head to the side slightly and then his gaze is moving away, moving to somewhere further off. Eventually he returns back to munching on the green haired girl.

I continue to study them for longer than I probably should, something about the guy hard not to look at. Finally, I turn away from him and I start moving in the direction I know the front office is. My mother made me study the campus map for way too long and she'd reminded me a thousand times that I needed to go to the front office for my entrance exam.

Pin pricks take over the back of my neck and I glance behind me, my feet still moving. I scan behind me, but I don't see anyone or anything out of place. I'm just turning back around when I bump into something, no, someone. I go falling backwards, my arms flying as I try to catch myself. Unfortunately, it's no help and I ended up crashing against the ground, wincing at the pain that shoots through my tailbone.

I glance up, but the sun is shining bright in my face. I'm just putting a hand up to try to block it when a form steps in the way, doing the job for me.

"What the hell? Watch where the fuck you're walking," comes a feminine voice. I blink, staring up at the girl in front of me. For lack of a better word, she's stunning. Long rose gold hair that flows down to her waist in soft waves. Her sun kissed skin is complemented by red painted lips. Scary bright eyes, caught between a pale orange and pink, stare at me in anger.

My eyes narrow slightly and I push to my feet, the gravel biting into my palms. Standing, the girl is only a few inches taller than me, but from the smug look on her face, you'd think I was thirty feet below her.

I don't like it.

"Did it occur to you that maybe you're the one who should be watching where they're walking?" I ask her.

It's not until I hear a soft gasp that I realize there's a small circle of girls standing behind the rose gold haired chick. They're all primped and dressed to the tee in cute floral patterns. Each one is wearing a horrified look on their face as they stare at me.

"I don't know if you know who you're talking to-"

"I don't," I say, cutting the girl off and staring back at her.

She really is beautiful, but it's clear that her personality is ugly after only talking to her for five seconds. And from the slight red that tinges her cheeks, I have no doubt she isn't used to people talking back to her.

No, this is a girl who looks down at others and expects for everyone to do what she says. She expects me to apologize for running into her, but that's not the girl I am. And whatever reputation she apparently holds is unknown to me, which means I care even less about stroking her ego.

I fold my arms over my chest. Tilting my head to the side slightly, I meet her gaze full on in challenge.

Her eyes narrow further before she clenches her jaw. Her eyes lighten even more, slightly glowing, before she blinks and they return to the pale orange-pink color. "I don't know what makes you think you can disrespect me, but I'm going to put it down to plain ignorance. But if you ever disrespect me again, the last thing you'll have to worry about is a sore ass, pumpkin." Before I can offer any sort of response, she's brushing past me, her shoulder bumping into mine. Hard.

For a moment, I consider following her and letting her really have a piece of my mind, but I decide against it at the last moment. I want to fly under the radar here and attacking some chick with some reputation I don't know about isn't the way to go. Now, if she comes at me like that again, I'll have no choice but to put her ass in her place. But until that moment actually comes, I'll let it go and let her think she won whatever the hell just happened.

I watch as she marches over to the couple under the tree, her fists balled up. Her posse follows her but it looks like they keep a considerable distance between them as the girl pulls up to a stop next to the couple and says something too low for me to hear. The guy lifts his head, turning to look at the girl, his posture relaxed. He keeps one hand against the tree, caging the green haired girl in, because she sure as fuck looks like she wants to get away from the other girl.

The rose haired girl waves her hands around wildly before she points a finger at the couple. The guy's posture tightens slightly and then all hell breaks loose as curses crack through the quad. The girl and the guy are shouting and yet I can't even decipher what in the hell they're shouting about.

The rest of the quad has stopped what they're doing, watching on in interest. The two continue to yell at each other until the guy stands up straight, and holy hell is he tall. He points a finger at the rose gold girl before turning his back on her and walking away. She stares after him with a slack jaw before following.

Her posse doesn't follow.

And neither does the green haired girl who scurries away with possible tears in her eyes.

What a shit show.

The pin pricks start back on my neck and I turn around. This time, I do see the guilty party as I find a guy standing a few feet away from me. He's tall and lanky, dark hair hanging into his face. Mystical green eyes that don't quite look right stare at me. Sensual lips pull into a smirk and then he's waving his fingers at me and disappearing.

I stare at the now empty spot, my pulse hammering.

Not even five minutes into Noduraz and I'm already ready to walk back home and take the prison sentence from the council.

This doesn't bode well for the next four years.
