the office. They’d never believe in us if they had to come

there. I’m not sure how some of my co-workers, who choose

to do their meetings there manage to swing it. Probably with

free lunch. I’ve seen lunch being ordered in before. I always

thought that it was for board meetings or other staff meetings,

but maybe it’s for clients too.

Free lunch usually makes people happy. Free lunch is a

great tool to use in place of bribery, just an FYI. Treat a client

to lunch and often they are much happier.

As soon as I’m outside, I snatch my phone out of my

purse and dial Steph’s number. I realize that it’s Monday

morning and she might be in class, but I don’t think that starts

until ten, and it’s only just past nine. She answers right away.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t even think before I called you. Are

you in class?”

“Not yet. What’s up?”

“I just got called into work. I thought I was going to

get fired, but because you sent that recommendation and stated

how happy you were and everything, they gave me more

clients and gave me a raise. It looks like I’m not getting booted

after all.”

“Oh my gosh! That’s great! I’m so happy. I was really

worried.”

“Whatever you wrote worked wonders. Seriously.

Thank you!”

“It was no problem.” She lowers her voice. “We know

that you did a great job. It was me who messed it up.

Although, I’m glad that I did.”

I get that warm feeling back in my chest and I know

I’m shining like a freaking lamp again as I walk down the
