Layla - Page 56

“That’s right, with a sexy male neighbor to keep me entertained. Isn’t that right, Layla?”

I was such a good friend that I played along with it and lied out of my ass to the police. Then again, Mark was technically her neighbor two doors away, and he was sexy and male, so was it actually a lie?

“Yup, we just saw him earlier.” Not a lie. “You’re a lucky girl.” Also, not a lie.

Grabbing my hand, Sayla tugged me toward the locker rooms. “Anyway, catch you later.”

Not looking back, we went through the doors, and I about collapsed onto my knees once the door shut behind us.

“What the shit was that?” Cyn asked from where she’d done the same thing. “Where did they come from?”

“That’s what I was wondering, but then I realized they’re probably ghost ninjas,” I told her, shaking my hands out from where I’d had them tightly clenched.

Sayla was glaring at the door, though, her emotions still registering as extremely pissed on the pissed off scale. “The audacity of that guy. Who did he think he was going past the finger of scorn like that?”

Cyn and I looked at each other, and both burst out laughing.

“I use the finger of scorn on Wick,” Cyn snickered. “When he was a baby, he used to suck on it and smile at me. The mental image of Roque doing the same thing—” She stopped and fanned herself. “Okay, not so funny, but definitely hot.”

I’d just like to point out that had I been at home, eating Pop Tarts and drinking coffee like I’d suggested we do instead of coming to the gym every week, none of this stress would ever have happened.

Now tell me how healthy this place was.
