‘Uh...’ Breathless already, she licked her lips. ‘Yes. But I’m going to explore that box later...’

‘I hope so.’ He carefully wrapped the silks around her wrists, his smile tender and possessive. ‘I can’t wait to meet our baby.’ His voice quietened as he worked. As he was honest and vulnerable with her. ‘Part of me is terrified. I’m desperate to protect her. But I know that with you...we can do this. Together.’

‘Yes.’

Felipe had pushed forward with relinquishing some of the Crown’s more substantial powers and he’d formulated a new succession plan that had been put to a public vote. His people had supported him entirely. So now their little prince or princess would become heir to the Crown only when old enough to understand the decision. There would be choice and more privacy in their children’s lives.

His gaze down her body was intense and brooding and so, so fierce. ‘I want this baby with you,’ he breathed. ‘I want lots of babies with you. I want everything with you.’

‘Especially more holidays, right?’

‘Yes.’ He chuckled. ‘Holidays and babies and laughter and you always with me on public engagements and so much time alone together down here. I love you, Elsie. Don’t ever leave me.’

‘I love you,’ Elsie whispered, every bit as fierce and emotional and honest. ‘And I never will.’

She was locked in his love and he in hers.

If they’d been looking they might’ve glimpsed the bright flashes of colour from the celebratory fireworks through the narrow gap in the rocks. But they weren’t looking.

They were too busy detonating fireworks of their own.
