A Forever Series Box Set: A Paranormal Reverse Harem-(Book 11-15) - Page 443

“You need to use whatever force of persuasion you can on her to make her seek help from her father with her magick,” Constantine says.

Frederick’s eyebrows go up. “Why?”

“Because she is going to need the help,” he replies.

“But she doesn’t want to see her father ever again. What makes you think I would try and persuade her otherwise?” Frederick asks.

“If you don’t, I will ensure that the first Vampire those Hunters take out is you,” Constantine threatens, turning to the man he used to trust with his life.

Frederick gives him a filthy look. “Threats? Interesting. That leads me to believe that you do not want our in-house Dark Fae Vampire showing her the ropes.”

Constantine doesn’t answer that. Clearly Frederick can see straight through him. “Do it or die. The choice is yours,” he says and stalks off, leaving Frederick to contemplate his future.

Ponte, Italy, January 2015 - Devon

“Wait,” Devon calls after Constantine.

“What?” he snaps irritably.

“We can’t just leave her,” Devon says frantically. “We need to do something.” His heart is hammering so hard in his chest. First, he thought he had lost her, then she came back and now she is unconscious. He doesn’t know where his head is at, and he needs someone who can tell him it will be all right.

“Like what?” Constantine asks, folding his arms. “Dracul said she would wake up, it’s just her body going into shock.”

“And that doesn’t concern you?” Devon almost shrieks at him.

“I choose to believe she will come back to me. She always does,” he says, but Devon doesn’t think he truly believes his words.

“Just feed her or something,” Devon grouses. “Anything to feel like we are doing something to help her.”

Constantine raises his eyebrows at him briefly almost as if he hadn’t thought of the idea himself. But then he shits on it like Devon knew he would. “I am no longer connected to her. What would be the point?”

“Jesus,” Devon mutters. “You are fucking cold. Don’t you even care that she nearly died. That she did die?”

Constantine grabs him by the collar, snarling into his face. “Of course I care, you arrogant prick. She is my wife.”

“Then do something!” Devon spits at him.

Constantine lets him go and his face closes off. “You need to speak to Remiel. He is her sire now.”

“It’s not enough,” Devon says, shaking his head. “She needs more.”

“I don’t have more to give her, don’t you get it? My blood to her is nothing now.”

“Bullshit. You are still an Initial Vampire despite everything else. Why won’t you help her?”

Constantine regards him closely and it unnerves him. “Of course I want to help her,” he says eventually. “I am just…this day has been…” And for once he is speechless.

Devon nods. “I know,” he says quietly. He is still in shock. If he had lost his sire he would die too.

“Virgin blood,” Constantine says after a beat. “It’s a cliché, but it is pure and wholesome.”

Devon nods again. “Okay, where do we find virgin blood around here?” he asks, gesturing wildly at this den of iniquity.

“There is a place…” Constantine says, eyeing him up and seeing if he can be trusted with the information that is about to be shared. “A black market…”

“I know it,” Devon says immediately.

Constantine looks mildly surprised at that revelation.
