A Forever Series Box Set: A Paranormal Reverse Harem-(Book 11-15) - Page 171

“I don’t forgive myself, Xane. You shouldn’t either,” I say, turning my face towards him.

He turns his to me. “There is nothing to forgive. I love you.”

“I love you,” I say, and he kisses me gently.

“What are you going to do about Delinda?” he asks when he pulls back.

“I have no idea,” I say with a sigh.

“And what are you going to do about this one?” he asks carefully, placing his hand on my still flat stomach.

I put my hand over his and I don’t answer him for a very long time. “I love CK,” I say. “We will be a family. I guess I just need to figure out how.”

He nods slowly and extracts his hand out from under mine. “You are choosing him because of your child,” he says bitterly.

I want to tell him that I’m not choosing CK, that I haven’t decided yet. “It’s not like that,” I say quietly.

He accepts my words without saying anything. He stands up and as he reaches the door, he turns back to me. “I am going to leave here now. You are back safe, and your father will protect you. Do not worry about me,” he adds as he sees I am about to protest. “I will be fine, but I need to go and see what my mother has managed to find out. But I promise you this, my wife, that I will find out who did this and I will kill them slowly and painfully. They have taken something precious from me and that will be the biggest mistake they will ever make.” He leaves quietly and I am left all alone with my grief and confusion.

“Wrath, indeed,” I mutter and curl myself up into a ball on the bed and cry the tears that have been threatening to come out since he told me the baby was ours.

Chapter 4

The Dark Fae Kingdom, September 2014 - Drake

“This is a fucking disaster,” Drake mumbles under his breath as he impatiently waits for his daughter’s return. “We were all supposed to back this up!” he yells at the assembly around the table.

“She will do whatever she wants to do,” Constantine says to his ire, sitting down and looking smug.

“Don’t think that was her choosing you,” Drake growls at him. “I didn’t hear the words.”

“Neither did I,” Devon says and sits in the chair to his right, in the chair that the Demon Overlord has vacated.

“Where is Xane?” Drake asks. He doesn’t mind him quite as much as the others. He keeps to himself.

“She is pregnant with my child,” Constantine says, rudely ignoring the question. “How do you think this is going to end?”

“With Aeval choosing her Faerie family,” Drake says, his large hand landing on Kalen’s shoulder. He is proud of the boy. He stepped up when he could have run. “It is the only way this will end.”

“Doubtful,” Devon says. “I have given her something to think about.”

“You had better stay away from my wife,” Constantine snarls at him, standing up and going on the offensive.

Devon is about to do the same when a messenger runs in looking harried and more than a little fearful.

“What is it?” Drake barks out. “I said we were not to be disturbed.”

“Sorry, Your Majesty, but this just arrived.” The Faerie holds out a silver platter on which there is a letter.

“It can wait. We have more important issues to discuss,” Drake says, dismissing the messenger with a wave of his hand.

“It arrived by unconventional methods, sir,” the Faerie says and goes slightly pale.

That catches Drake’s attention. “What do you mean?” he asks with narrowed eyes.

The Faerie looks around at the others and remains silent. At Drake’s impatient huff, he races around to whisper into his ear and Drake lets out a loud rumble and snatches up the letter from the platter.

He tears it open and his frown deepens. This is bad. Aeval cannot know about this or it is going to spoil everything.
