A Forever Series Box Set: A Paranormal Reverse Harem-(Book 11-15) - Page 107

“Your body might have, but your mind…” he argues.

“I have slept with Cole and C

K since then,” I argue back, and even I know how that sounds.

“Then they should be ashamed of themselves,” he says haughtily.

Oh man, where has this superior attitude come from, and why is he not ripping at my clothes yet, dammit?

“I guess now that I am no longer your sire, I don’t hold the same appeal for you,” I sulk at him and his furious gaze makes me smile to myself.

“I love you,” he says passionately. “You know that.”

“Then let me satisfy you,” I say.

He sighs as if he gives up, and I am ready to pounce on him. Now that I am close to getting Remiel to trust me, my libido has shot through the roof again. I am like a raging nympho, needing to take, take, take.

“Lizzie,” he says, and it stops me. “I’m hungry.”

“Mm, me too,” I say seductively, and he rolls his eyes at me.

“Stop woman, I said ‘no,’” he cries at me.

“Jesus!” I snap at him. “What is wrong with you?”

“I’m broken,” he says.

“Don’t be so ridiculous, Devon. You don’t know the meaning of the word. Your lack of satisfaction is probably because you haven’t dealt with losing Jess yet, and you are transferring it over to Cole because it’s easier to miss him because he is still alive and there is something you can do about it!” I yell at him.

He looks absolutely dumbfounded by my harsh words, so I smile apologetically.

“Sorry,” I murmur.

“You are wrong, Lizzie. I do not miss Jess,” he says.

“Maybe, maybe not, but have you dealt with losing her? She was your charge and you liked her enough to pursue her at one point. I know things ended badly, but you still had a connection with her,” I say softly.

“I never should have turned her,” he says miserably.

“That doesn’t answer my question,” I press.

“Yes, I have dealt with it,” he says stubbornly.

“Then what is the problem? The real problem?” I ask. Sometimes to get Devon to do something you need to push him into it. He will crack now; I just know it.

“I miss you,” he says finally. “I miss being your charge and every day I worry that things will be different with us, and you won’t want me anymore. Everything has changed, and I don’t like it.”

“I do want you,” I say. “I want you right now. That will never change, Devon, because I love you and I did before you were a Vampire.”

“I miss being a Vampire,” he says woefully and that is the real crux of the problem. “I miss my stamina the most.”

I can’t help but chuckle at him. “I know exactly how you feel,” I say, remembering my not-so-pleasant time with CK yesterday. “But you are pretty powerful now.”

“A trade-off. A body that gives out after a few hours of intense fucking for the ability to Astraport and do magick,” he says flatly.

“I would take those any day,” I say and stroke his hair. “You don’t need to go all night, Devon, just because you could. That isn’t what makes you a fantastic lover.”

“This is weird reassurance,” he says suddenly and decides it’s time to end the conversation. “Aren’t you hungry?” he asks. “When was the last time you ate?”
