A Forever Series Box Set: A Paranormal Reverse Harem-(Book 1-5) - Page 15

The only dark cloud is the fact that Cole is still upstairs. I wish that he could join in as well, that would make my century, but as it is, I revel from the attention of my sire and my charge. Finally!

“Go now,” CK says to Devon quietly, in a tone so dangerous, it sends a chill down my spine. You would have to be a fool to ignore him, and Devon is no fool.

He removes his hands from me with a devastating smile. “Well, that was fun. Maybe next time, I get a turn.”

CK snorts, an un-amused sound, as he gives Devon the shove that I thought was coming earlier.

Devon holds his hands up and backs out, never once even looking at my sire.

I sigh as he says, “Liv, I suggest you finish up in here,” and slams the door shut behind him.

CK steps back, withdrawing from me and again I feel the pang of loss.

“You really want to be with him, don’t you?” he asks softly.

I bend to retrieve my discarded robe as he sorts out his own sartorial neglect. I frown at him when he puts a hand up to stroke my face. “The guilt on your face told me,” he answers my unasked question. He sighs and says, “I still don’t want you to tell him, but no relationship with a human can survive a secret this big.”

“Constantine, I…” I don’t know what to say to that. I want to shout at him that we should be together, that we are Vampires and cut from the same cloth and bonded in a way that makes my body ache when he isn’t next to me. I want to tell him that I love him and have him say it back to me in the way that I want him to, but he won’t. I know he won’t, but I say it anyway, “I love you.” Every ounce of my feelings for him goes into it.

“And I love you, my sweet. I must go. I will see you in Monaco,” he says lightly.

My heart breaks, just as I knew it would, but he has made my decision for me. I will move forward with Cole, and when the time is right, I will tell him who I really am. I am done waiting around for my sire to give me what I want.

I nod briskly to hide the pain, but he takes it as guilt over what we have just done and softens. “No regrets, my sweet. I taught you that centuries ago. We will always have this between us. It’s just the way it is.” And with a swift, chaste kiss to my lips, he blinks out of existence, leaving me to consider his words, and hold the feeling of him fucking me while Devon had his hands on me, close to me. I doubt it will ever happen again.

CHAPTER SIX

I head towards the patio, pulling my robe tighter around me. Heaving a sigh, I stand there while Devon scowls at me. My darling boy is annoyed with me and I love him so much in that moment.

“You could have let me have a go. You know how much I want to see his face while I fuck you.”

I roll my eyes at him. “I saw his face when you bit me, and my darling boy, trust me when I say you would not like to see his face while you fuck me.”

He laughs, but it doesn’t quite sound like he finds it funny. More like he is sad. “Why was he here anyway?”

“Why the fuck do you think, you arsehole?” I suddenly snap, remembering why CK deigned to visit me on the fly.

“Arsehole?” he says, mocking my accent with a raised eyebrow. “That’s a bit harsh,” he adds as he hides his smile behind his coffee. He has been mollified somehow. His demeanor has relaxed, and in turn it makes me less tense.

“Humph!” I say rudely, flopping into a chair and giving him the finger. It’s been the most trying morning already and it’s only 7 AM. “You ambushed me,” I sulk.

“I needed him to tell you what a bad idea it was. You listen to him,” he says softly.

“Yes, I do listen to him, and guess what? He told me to tell Cole, so I will!” I say, even then knowing that wasn’t exactly what CK said.

Devon’s face falls. “He said what?” he asks.

I softly recount CK’s statement.

He looks at me suspiciously. “That’s what he said? And you are taking that as a go ahead? Doesn’t sound that way to me.”

I nod and he sighs. “Well, you know him better than I do,” he says sadly.

I beam at him and all his concerns vanish under my approval as he smiles hesitantly back. “When?” he asks, trying for nonchalance.

I frown and shrug. “Soon. I know we’ve only known each other for a week, but rather now than in a month’s time when I couldn’t bear to see him walk away.”

Devon leans across the table and grabs my hand. “Well, you won’t know until you tell him.”
