Jewell (Biker Bitches 7) - Page 46

“I’m surprised she’s giving him the time of day. I thought she was only supposed to fuck Last Riders. What’s the matter, Jewell? They tired of you, or the wives get tired of you trying to steal their men?”

Luckily, his arm was still around Jewell’s waist, so he easily lifted her off her feet when Jewell tried to jerk away and go back.

“You fucking bit—”

Rory grimaced when a loud whack, chair’s screeching and falling, as well feminine screams, rose above the music playing.

“Let me go,” Jewell hissed, kicking her legs against him.

“No.” Rory didn’t deviate from walking to the door, but not before shooting a shitfaced Moon a glare. The lone Last Rider would be no help at dealing with the brawl that had broken out. He had gone past three sheets to the wind and was currently drifting into Never Never Land. Mick would be no help, either; he was taking his bottles off the shelves to hide them under the counter.

Finally reaching the door, Rory pried Jewell’s fingers from the frame, when four cars came screeching into the parking lot from the direction of the club, as a police car slowly came around the corner from town just to drive past without stopping.

Rory waved toward the cop car.

“You can stop,” Jewell told him, almost managing to get away from his slackened hold.

“That’s Greer. He’s on his way to eat dinner with his family.”

“Un-fucking-believable,” he growled, hoisting Jewell higher up his side. “If you don’t let go, I’m going to—”

Rory forgot what he was going to threaten Jewell with when The Last Riders’ wives began spilling out of the cars, coming toward them en masse.

“Move, Jewell. We’ve got this!”

Jewell didn’t let go of the frame, but she did turn her head to look at Ginny and the women with her. “Whose side are you going to be fighting on? Sex Piston and her bitches or The Last Riders’ women?”

Ginny rolled the sleeves of her sweater up. “I’m a Last Rider.” Ginny gave her a vengeful grin. “My sister won’t let any of the bitches hit me.”

Jewell released the doorframe. “Winter, Lily, Beth, do your husbands know you came?”

Rory took the opportunity to get Jewell away from the doorway. Ginny ran inside, Lily the only one staying long enough to answer Jewell.

“They know.” Lily gave a frightened look back at the road. “They’re the ones holding Rachel and Cash back. They blocked them in their driveway so they couldn’t get out. Rachel was bringing a baseball bat … I tried to take it from her, but Shade wouldn’t let me.” She sighed then peered inside the bar. “You think they’re still fighting?”

A shrill scream rent the air.

“I think so.” Humorously, Rory saw joy fill Lily’s face.

“Finally, I get to have some fun.”

Holding on to Jewell with one hand, he grabbed the back of Lily’s dress, tugging her to a stop. “You should stay out here.”

Those bitches would make mincemeat out Shade’s wife, Rory surmised.

“I can handle myself,” Lily bristled.

“He’s right, Lily,” Jewell agreed. “Someone has to be able to get them to the hospital if someone gets hurt.”

“Fine, I’ll stay out here. To tell you the truth, I don’t think I could hurt anyone, anyway,” she whispered conspiratorially.

“I don’t think you could, either. But thanks for the thought,” Jewell whispered back.

“You won’t tell Shade? I don’t want him disappointed in me.”

“Of course not. Everyone knows you couldn’t hurt a fly.”

Jewell might have sounded commiserating, yet Rory could hear the pity underneath.

A bloodcurdling scream came from the doorway where Lily was still holding the door open, and they could see Crazy Bitch running toward the exit with Ginny hot on her tail. Lily slammed the door shut at the precise moment that Crazy Bitch was trying to cross the threshold.

Rory’s stomach turned at the howl of pain coming from the other side of the door.

Unrepentant, Lily folded clasped hands behind her back, trying to appear innocent.

“While we’re keeping secrets, can you not tell anyone I did that?”

Incredulous, both Jewell and he could only gape at Lily.

Jewell was the first one able to unlock her jaw. “We wouldn’t dare.”

Chapter Twenty-Four

Should she or should she not? Indecision rode her hard as they made the ride back to the club. Jesus, it’s not that big of deal. I want to fuck him, so why not?

A worrying niggle at the back of her mind warned her that fucking Rory would be different than the other men she had been with.

She had almost decided she wasn’t going to give it a pass when they arrived at the club. Opening the car door, she stepped out, trying to come up with an excuse that would get her away from him with the least amount of hazzle.

“Later.”

Stunned, Jewell looked at him as he started for the side of the club. Piqued, she strode around the SUV to take off after his long-legged stride.
