Well, most of the beast was tamed. “I love you, Colin.”
Her eyes widened as she put her hand over her mouth. The words had just popped out. Neither of them had declared their love yet, and Sabela worried she’d rushed things.
Colin smiled. “Open the box,” he said quietly.
The lid parted easily from the bottom, and inside she found a beautiful row of diamonds set in a white gold bracelet. He took the bracelet out of the box and turned it over to examine the delicate design.
On the inside was an inscription. Sabela read it out loud. “To our future. I love you. Colin.”
“I hope I still get credit for saying it first.” He grinned.
“You know what?” she asked, eyes sparkling with tears. “I’ll let you have this one. But only this once.”
The past was behind them, and the future was brighter than ever. This was no fairy tale. It was the real thing, and Sabela couldn’t wait to experience her life story with Colin at her side.
Their shared future would be their happily ever after. And their love would be all the magic they’d need.
