The Construction Worker & the Billionaire (Taming The Bad Boy Billionaire 10) - Page 38

“Well that’s kind of the point,” Logan interrupted mildly. “She kind of implied that since she was going to be getting mind-blowing sex later that night, that you should too.” His voice lowered to a conspiratorial whisper. “And I don’t think she was talking about Brad Harmon.”

“Why you little—”

“And on that note...” His hands wrapped around her thighs, easing her gently onto his lap. “If you’re finished rehashing the last twenty-four hours, I’d really like to get back to it...”

“Is that right?” Lacy sank down suddenly on top of him, eliciting a quiet moan as he filled up every inch of space in her body. “Feeling a little impatient, are we?”

“Feeling the need to be convinced.” He answered seriously, but there was a little twinkle in his eyes. “I’m still not sure about making the move to Cleveland...”

Chapter 24

By the time she got to work, Lacy’s early morning had vanished and she was actually running late. She skidded through the doors and slid to a stop in front of her desk, just as the clock was chiming nine-thirty. Just half an hour, but fortunately, neither of the other girls seemed to be there yet either. Maybe there was a chance that no one would notice—

“Well look who finally showed up!”

Both Sarah and Quin sauntered out of the back hallway with matching smirks. One was still holding her phone from last night, while the other was offering out a walk-of-shame coffee.

Lacy took the coffee first. Then made a mad swipe for the phone.

“Oh—I don’t think so.” Sarah grabbed it from Quin instead, scrolling through what looked like a small album of incriminating photographs. “You’d only delete them and these things are going up on the wall. Right next to that signed copy of Crazy, Stupid, Love.”

Quin popped up by her elbow, pointing and whispering. “Show her the—”

“Oh yeah.” Quin enlarged an image with a huge smile. “This is my

favorite.”

It was even worse than Lacy could have imagined. The picture was in black and white, but that in no way diminished the fiery rage projected by the mere sight of it.

There she was—towering over the table like the goddess of war. One hand was curled in a fist, while the other was jabbing right into Logan’s chest—the hook of her manicured finger catching the edge of his shirt. Despite the explosion of fury crashing his way, Logan looked quite at ease. He was reclining back in his chair with a charming smile, and as if to make matters worse, he was thumbing through the dessert menu under the table. The only person who looked remotely normal was Brad—that is, if you didn’t take into account the wide eyes, the pale skin, and the expression like he was about to throw up right there on the table.

All in all...it wasn’t Lacy’s finest moment. The pictures, however, were incredible.

“You did a great job, Quin,” she muttered under her breath, still reeling in horror and trying to ignore the giant smiles on her friends’ faces. “Just please tell me you snapped some when it was just the two of us—”

“Already printing out.” Quin beamed back at her, quite thrilled with the way the evening had turned out. “And the wife’s on her way. You can do the honors.”

How kind. No one liked to be the bearer of bad news. Even if it was to be expected.

“Aw thanks,” Lacy said dryly, turning her back on the others as she walked stiffly to her desk. “Now if you’ll excuse me, I have some work to do.”

They lingered just long enough to giggle as she sank down into her chair, but scattered by the time she fired up her computer. As the monitor roared to life, she took her first sips of the life-giving espresso—wondering how in the world she’d found herself in this situation.

Screaming at a boyfriend in front of a client? Quin snapping pictures of a sting operation gone awry? And most of all...the fact that after last night...she didn’t really care?

A sudden beep from the computer brought her back to life. She clicked on her email and saw a message waiting from an address she’d never seen before. An address she’d never seen, and yet, she had a pretty damn good idea who it was.

LoganAlexander3219. It seemed she wasn’t the only one thinking about last night.

After glancing over her shoulder to make sure that Sarah and Quin had returned to their own desks, she clicked open the message—a beaming smile spreading up the sides of her face...

...before melting right onto the floor.

What the fuck?!

Took the liberty of commemorating the night. Hope you don’t mind.

The message was simple. It was the picture that had her jaw dropping to the floor.
