Messy Love (Stumbling into Love 3) - Page 78

Will was thriving at Crane Entertainment with Jameson’s dad, and Jameson was plugging along on his doctorate.

I was still employed at the furniture store, and while it wasn’t my dream job, they were willing to work around my school schedule. After everything had gone down, I’d started seeing my therapist again too, but we’d parted ways about six months ago.

Danny and I had done a lot of research online until eventually, we’d found Bill. He’d moved to California, where he lived with his husband. The four of us were hoping to meet up sometime, when Bill came to Georgia to see his dad. They’d had some rough years, but he accepted Bill for who he was.

Kira and Ali were happy and doing well.

Brooklyn and Sierra were the same.

My house was full of queer people and those who loved us. I couldn’t help wondering what my dad would think if he saw us all.

“I’m proud of you.” I turned at the sound of Brad’s voice. He was holding baby Jonathan. “Don’t know if I’ve ever told you how lucky we all are to have you as a big brother.”

My chest tightened at his unexpected words. Not that we weren’t close now, because we were, but Brad and Nolan weren’t real sentimental. “Thanks, man. We’re all lucky to have each other. I’m glad we all see it now.”

Brad nodded. “He’s named after you. I know you think it’s for Dad, and I guess in some ways, it has to be. Chloe and I had you in mind, though.”

“I…” Nothing would come out. I didn’t know what to say. “Thank you.”

“Nothing to thank me for, big brother. Also, Keisha’s pregnant. Don’t tell Nolan I told you.”

“You bastard!” Nolan stepped up to us. “I said I wanted to tell him and Will together!”

“Wow. Congrats.”

“What did I miss?” Will asked.

“Nolan and Keisha are having a baby,” I replied.

“Damn. That’s awesome,” Will said. “I’m…I’m gonna ask Jameson to marry me.”

That was the least surprising thing he could have said. We all knew Will was crazy in love with Jameson. Still, I couldn’t stop the smile from spreading over my face. “Good for you. I really want to see that. Jameson is going to lose it.”

Will chuckled. “Yeah, he will.”

I looked over at Danny again. As if he could sense it, his eyes found mine. He grinned and winked. My pulse still sped up, just like it always did with him. One day, maybe that would be us—getting engaged, maybe planning to adopt kids. Who knew? The only certainty was us being together. I was in love with him and always would be.

“I’ll talk to you guys in a bit.” I walked over to Danny and wrapped my arms around him from behind. I looked at Gracie. “Are you trying to steal my boyfriend?”

“Mama says you apposed to share.”

I was assuming she meant supposed to. I chuckled.

“Me and Gracie are besties, aren’t we?” Danny asked her, and she nodded.

It wasn’t long before the food was done. We ate and laughed and talked. Gloria had brought some homemade Mexican food too, which was always a big hit.

Late that night, after we’d showered together and Danny had fucked me, he brought a washcloth over and wiped me down, making me feel cherished and taken care of the way he always did.

“Do you want to get married someday?” I found myself saying.

Danny cocked a brow. “Are you trying to ask me something?”

“Maybe.”

“Well, if one day you decided to ask me to marry you, handsome, I’d definitely say yes. And if I get to it first, I better get the same answer.”

I grinned and pulled him down on top of me. “Always.” We’d get there one day. We had time. “Thank you…for loving me…for putting up with me.”

“Nothing to thank me for. You’re it for me.”

We kissed then. He was it for me too.
