Corsairs: Kaspar (Corsair Brothers 2) - Page 97

"I'll watch you," I volunteer.

He looks over at me in surprise. "You will?"

I nod. "I can't help out much with all the ass-kicking stuff but I'll let you know if you're breathing harder. Like you are right now, because you're panicking. Deep breaths, babe."

Kas closes his eyes and takes three long, deep breaths. Then he nods. "Thanks, Sunshine."

"We're a team," I tell him, and fight the urge to happy-cry again.

As Kaspar heads down the ladder to let Gloom know about our plans, I start packing. I go through the ship, picking up things we might need or that I can't bear to leave behind. There's an entire bag full of colorful feathers from Sterre's kills that I was going to make a pillow out of. There's the empty canister that used to hold fuel cells and now holds these spicy-tasting things that grow on the undersides of the fern leaves. There's our bed, and our clothes. Homemade rope. Homemade weapons. A plas-film blanket. A metal bowl we use to wash up. The rigged-up filters that clean the water that Kas hauls up.

We've been so comfortable in this little home and now we have to leave and start all over again.

I sit on the edge of the bed, determined not to cry. Sterre hops up next to me, turns around twice like a big ol' slinky, and then thumps down with a yawn. She probably thinks it's bedtime. I wouldn't mind lying down and just curling up against her, but I'm Kas's partner, and if we're leaving in the morning, I need to make sure everything's ready. So I scratch Sterre's ears, tell her how much I love her, and then get to work.

At first I want to bring everything, but as the first bag fills up with old clothing, I realize that's not feasible. We're not intending on staying here for any long length of time. The goal is to get to the gladiator school, break in, and get on our way.

We need maybe one change of clothes, sturdy footwear, and as many weapons and as much food as we can carry. One blanket for sleeping on the ground, just in case. We don't need anything else, no matter how hard all that other stuff was to come by or how precious it has become to me over the last few months. I dig through the reworked clothing, picking out a few small items that will be good for when it rains, and extra laces for our shoes, since the auto-fasteners are long dead.

I pause, thinking about clothing as I tuck the last bit into a much lighter bag, thinking. Our biggest defense mechanism back when we were stranded on the Buoyant Star was having the enemy underestimate us. We dressed as slave girls with our tits out and acted helpless, because it distracted men enough for us to turn the advantage in our favor.

That can be useful here, too.

I pull out my clothing, consider it, and then rip the skirt into a much shorter one. I make a bandeau top out of the strip and test it over my tits, tightening the knot and then cutting the fabric into a slimmer band directly over the tits. It barely holds my meager breasts together, which means it's perfect.

If there's one thing the universe has taught me, it's that aliens love to underestimate a cute human, and I'm going to use that.

"No," I say when Alice dresses in the morning. "Absolutely not."

"Yes," Alice says, and tightens the knot between her breasts. "Absolutely so."

"The bugs are going to eat you alive," I warn, as if that's the biggest problem I have with her clothing. It absolutely looks like the distracting get-up she wore while on the Buoyant Star, nothing but tits and thighs. If anything, her skirt is shorter than it was before, and I swear when she moves I can practically see her cunt.

If it was just us, I'd drag her back to bed and lick that sweet cunt for hours, just for her being a tease. Just for being sexy and irresistible.

But Gloom is down there. He's going to see her walking around in this get-up. He's going to stare at her breasts. He's going to imagine her cunt under that short skirt.

And then, of course, I'm going to have to kill him.

"Don't be a caveman," Alice tells me as she heads to the lavatory and peers at her reflection in the tarnished mirror there. She lifts her arms, and her tits nearly fall out of the strand of fabric covering them. BARELY covering them. I'm tempted to go stand behind her and cover her tits with my hands, because I don't want anyone looking at my mate but me. She glances over at me as she pulls her hair into one of her top knots. "You do know what a caveman is, right?"
