Fierce (Wolf Ranch 5) - Page 34

“Can you, Doc?”

“Uhn.”

“Show me.”

I worked myself as I did in the past when I was all alone, but it was hotter now knowing Levi was watching me. Seeing how I liked it.

It didn’t take long. I came on a breathy moan. My muscles squeezed and pulsed as my heart tapped out a rapid beat against my ribs. It felt so good, so satisfying. And this was just the beginning of our love-making.

I caught my breath as the orgasm passed, still working my fingers.

Levi raised onto his forearms and claimed my mouth in a hard, possessive kiss. I lifted my hips to meet his and felt his very solid erection. He groaned against my lips. “Not yet, beautiful. I still have another step on the agenda.”

My eyelids fluttered as he crawled down between my legs and made good on his promise. In fact, he went through every item on his agenda before he let me sleep. In his bed.

CHARLIE

Two days passed. While I focused on my work with Seraphina and all the reports and phone calls with the staff back in Colorado, I was in a sexual haze. I patted the animal’s flank as I put the portable ultrasound away. “Guess both of us are getting some action this trip,” I murmured.

Seraphina’s ear flicked, the only indication she’d heard. Not that I’d expected her to ask for every hot detail like Keely.

I’d lost track of the number of orgasms Levi had given me. I should have made a spreadsheet of that, tracking the hows and whens of each one, so I could put the pretty pie chart on the wall when I got home.

He’d been on shift both days as sheriff, but Levi was an attentive, thorough and fun lover when he got home. All my hangups and worries about being with a guy diminished every time he winked or smiled or kissed me. When he was deep inside me, whether it was bent over the arm of the couch in the bunkhouse or a quickie in the empty stall next to Seraphina’s, I didn’t think about anything. Not about being overheard or found. Not about my work. Not about what things with Levi meant because we’d clearly delineated this was a sex-only fourteen-day relationship. Not about Pops. Or Dax. Or anything.

While I had a feeling Clint and the others on the ranch knew we were into each other, they didn’t comment. Thankfully, Clint was content to head home to his wife and daughter at the end of the day. As for Johnny, he came early and did his work but left well before sundown. Levi had told me Boyd and Audrey were staying in town because Audrey had shifts at the hospital this week. I didn’t know the details about that arrangement, but they weren’t around.

Everyone was busy. So was I, with Levi.

I liked him. I felt comfortable around him. I felt like I could be me, and that said a lot. It was crazy and fun and everything I’d ever wanted. Yet it was a big problem. This was a fling. Two weeks. Nothing more. He was supposed to teach me about sex and to punch my V-card. He’d done both.

He was a thorough, attentive teacher, and I was a very eager pupil. My pussy tingled from all the attention he’d given it and craved more.

What we had was real, but it had an expiration date. I had about a week to go, and I’d be packing up Seraphina and heading back to Claymore’s. I’d be leaving Wolf Ranch and Levi behind.

This was what he wanted. He’d only offered two weeks. Nothing more. I couldn’t get any silly notions that he’d be thinking beyond that time. I was a fling to him. He hadn’t said otherwise, and if I asked him, I’d be the clingy, needy woman.

I wasn’t that. Never that.

Seraphina nickered, and I smiled at her. “You’re the love ‘em and leave ‘em type, aren’t you? You don’t have any issue with riding off into the sunset, leaving poor Eddison to find another mare.”

She tossed her head as if agreeing.

My cell chimed, indicating a text. My heart jumped into my throat because it was either Keely or Dax. I gave Seraphina one more pat then retrieved the cell from my bag.

“Shit.” It wasn’t Keely.

Dax: The shipment still hasn’t arrived.

I stared at the text. Honestly, I was relieved he didn’t have his grubby hands on the stuff. That meant it wasn’t being sold. But it also meant I was still on the hook and got annoying texts.

I stared up at the rafters of the stable, wondering what the hell happened to my life. I was screwing cowboys and peddling drugs. I’d gotten him exactly what he wanted. It wasn’t my fault someone was diligent and locked the drugs away. Still, Dax wasn’t reasonable.
