Keeping Her (Savage Brothers Second Generation 2) - Page 12

“That’s what I said. You sure ain’t a man. You’re walking around in a suit that probably cost more than most people make in a month and meanwhile Jasmine here is wearing shit clothes. You don’t deserve her.”

“Oh my God! My clothes are not shit!” Jasmine huffs.

“Babe,” I laugh, shaking my head.

“What? I look perfectly fine!”

“He’s right, Jazz. Those cutoffs are older than I am and I’m not too sure that shirt isn’t too,” Gabby says, resulting in Jasmine rolling her eyes.

“Give me a break. Not everyone can be you. I mean who wears a freaking white pants suit to east spaghetti? If I did that it would be all over me,” Jasmine huffs.

“Baby,” I laugh, loving the show she’s got going on right now.

“If you don’t like the way I dress, Grunt, you’re welcome to leave. That way you don’t have to see me again,” she says so sweetly it could give me a toothache. Then, she turns around to grab her purse with an annoyed breath.

“I warned you, Red,” I growl from behind her, wrapping my arms around her. She lets out a startled squawking nose, just as I pick her up.

“What are you doing?” she demands, and I have to concentrate, because all I can think of is how good it feels to have her back in my arms.

“You and I are going to have this shit out, Red.”

“Jazz do you need me?” Hawk asks, but I don’t turn around to look at the fucker.

“Uh…”

“Call him over here and you’ll get pretty boy hurt, Red. I can think of nothing better than to smash his face in and break his hands because they were on your body,” I murmur for her ears only, leaning down to deliver my warning against her ear.

“I…”

“Not kidding, Red. Try me.” I pull back and stop walking so she can look at me. She studies me and I let her, wondering if she’s going to push me. I wasn’t lying. I want to smash that damn boy’s face in more than I’ve wanted anything in my life—except for maybe Jazz herself.

“I’m okay, Hawk,” she says, looking over my shoulder. She stretches up to do that, causing her to shift in my hands and my hand squeezes her ass cheek. Firm, soft, lush ass that fills my hand and makes my dick cry.

I’m in deep shit with this woman.

“Good choice, Red.”

“That remains to be seen,” she sighs, settling down so that her head rests against my chest. That simple movement eases something inside of me and I instantly relax. “You really are a jerk,” she mutters.

“I know.” I smirk, but I don’t look down to see her reaction.

“Good.” She lets out a soft sigh and for some reason that quiet sound is beautiful to me.

Fuck…10Jasmine“This is your place?” I ask, looking around the living room. It’s surprisingly roomy but absolutely no design aesthetic. There’s barely furniture at all. A large couch on one wall and a television on the opposite one. The kitchen is separated by a small breakfast bar and there’s a mini fridge, a sink and cabinets. That’s it. I don’t see a sign of a stove. There is a microwave.

I suppose Luke is the ultimate bachelor—at least that’s what I’m seeing here.

“Not fancy enough for you, Red?” he asks, studying me. I release a breath, letting him know how annoying he’s being.

Not that he cares.

“If you’re going to be an asshole, I’m leaving,” I mutter. “I don’t care what your place looks like. I just meant….”

“What?”

“It doesn’t look like you spend a lot of time here,” I respond finally, with a shrug.

“I don’t. I’m at the club most of the time. Some of the guys bought campers and live at the club or in the compound itself. I do that until I start needing to be by myself. Then, I end up here.”

I nod, because there’s not a lot more to say to that.

We left Kentucky and passed the Virginia state line, driving through downtown Norton—which reminded me of most downtowns back home in my part of Kentucky…small. I should have probably been nervous going with Luke. At the very least, I should have worried about crossing state lines with him, but for some reason I’m not. Well, I’m not worried about Luke. My father and Uncle Dragon? That might be a different story. I need to text my brother and make sure he keeps his big mouth shut. I don’t want Dad coming down on me, at least until I find out what Luke’s game is. He’s part of an MC club and he’s suddenly showing up wherever I am. Maybe I’m wrong to think that’s bad news—but, I don’t think so.

“Why am I here?” I finally ask, turning around to face him, and pulling my attention away from his place.
