Loved Anew - A Tattooed Brides Short Story - Page 7

“Fuck. fuck. Fuck.” is all he says before we pass out on the bed. Each of us breathing like we just ran a marathon.

“I’m sorry, baby. I wanted our first time together to be slow, romantic and filled with much more. I had no clue you were innocent. You shouldn’t have lost your cherry so quick and hard.”

Lifting my head, I lay my chin on my hands. “It was perfect Lars, because it was with you.” I lean up and kiss him again before laying back down against his chest. My mind is spinning with thoughts and dreams of the future.

“You decide yet?” he mimics the question he has been asking me all day. I am about to ask him why he keeps asking me that, when everything hits me all at once. The time we have spent, the talks, the devotion he has shown me, the date. Not to mention everything he has said to me since this morning.

“You have been courting me. This whole time.” I say in shock as it all hits me. He simply smiles and puts his hand behind his head. I shake my head laughing at him. This man. But then I look at him.

“Ask me again, Lars?” he takes his hands down and holds my face to his.

“You decide yet?” I look him in his eyes and answer him as I rise up and straddle him.

“Yes. I will marry you.” I say as I slide down his cock, still not quite ready for the way he stretches me.

“Thank fuck baby. It’s about time.”

Time is something we have plenty of. Thank God, I get to spend it, just. like. this.EpilogueLarsTwo Years Later“Would you stop fidgeting. Everything is going to be fine.” I find that I have been telling her this all week. This is her routine check up to make sure she is still cancer free. We have been doing this every six months for the past two years. When she gets the all clear today, we won’t have to do this for a year. I know she is nervous, and I get it, but considering she is six months pregnant with our second child, I want her to remain calm.

It turns out, I hit the ball out of the park on the first try. We didn't figure it out until our honeymoon. See, after that night, we decided to get married in two weeks and it has been bliss ever since. She heard about an organization called BABC. They get wedding dress donations for brides and in turn, sell them cheap and the money goes to Breast Cancer research, prevention and education. She was adamant about buying her dress from them and it makes sense. She had also heard from some of her friends in chemo, that there was a tattoo shop named The Tattooed Vixen. On Sundays, the owner, Felicity, closes the shop down and opens it up for breast cancer survivors to come and get fitted for wigs, get free tattoos and BABC sets up a booth there when asked for bridal parties and such. Needless to say, this was her bridal shower. She and some of her chemo friends went down and had a good time. She got a tattoo on her right shoulder of a butterfly flying out of a cage.

“I know. I just...everything has been so great. I never in a million years thought this would be my life.” I rub her tummy, as I see the baby move inside.

“I know baby. Just relax. My son can feel your emotions.” I kiss her as we walk into the doctor's office. She came by here last week to get her blood drawn and such so this is the results portion. We sit in the doctor's office and she wastes no time.

“Everything looks great you guys. You are still cancer free.” I exhale a breath I didn’t realize I was holding.

“Really? You sure?” Marilyn begins to cry. I lift her up and put her in my lap.

“Marilyn. Please don’t cry. Be happy. You and Lars have built this wonderful life. Don’t live it worrying.” and with that, she shakes our hands and walks out. I sit in the chair with her in my lap for a while, giving her a second.

“You ok baby?” I ask her, wiping her nose with a Kleenex.

“Yea. I’m fine. I didn’t realize how worried I was until she told me I didn't need to be. I’m sorry.”

“Hey, no apologizing to me. It’s my job to carry your worries baby. And to carry you. What do you say we go home, grab Lana and go out to dinner? Let’s celebrate with our daughter.” anything to make her happy.

“Yes. Let's.” She says leaning her head on me.

That night, we celebrated both with our daughter and without.

Life doesn’t get any better than this.
