Execution Style (Code 11-KPD SWAT 4) - Page 36

“You know,” I said hesitantly. “We’ll have to keep doing that…at least until I get too big to do it anymore. I hear pregnant woman like a lot of sex.”

He shrugged, eyes staying pinned to mine. “You can have me day or night, baby. If I’m here. And if I’m not, then you have my cell phone and pager number. The pager I’ll always have on me in case there’s a SWAT situation in town.”

I blinked. “You want me to page you if I want to have sex?”

He grinned. “Well, sure. Why the fuck not?”Chapter 16I don’t jump to conclusions. I cannonball into them like a motherfuckin’ boss.

-Mercy’s personal thoughts

Mercy

I woke up in Miller’s arms, happy and content.

I was thirsty and extremely hungry, though. Which must’ve been why I’d woken up at this ungodly hour after the night I’d just experienced.

It was six in the morning, and I stretched, deliciously sore from the night before.

Rolling to my side and out of bed, I performed my morning routine, and then got dressed.

All the while I did so, I watched Miller not move a single muscle.

He looked so cute.

He was sleeping on his back with one arm up and over his head, while the other one lay outstretched on the mattress where I’d been previously laying.

The white sheets were tangled up with his legs, in a twist along his side and only covering a very minimal part of him.

His blue boxer briefs were bunched up at the top of his thighs, something that would’ve bothered me to no end, but didn’t seem to affect him in the slightest.

He was snoring slightly, and the beard that’d already been on the verge of too long, was now a bushy mess around his face.

I nearly laughed when I saw a feather from the hotel’s ‘luxurious’ pillows stuck in it. Each time he breathed in and out, the feather would blow back and forth.

Thinking I’d leave him be and bring him breakfast back, I quickly pulled on some sweat pants, which happened to be Miller’s.

I had to tie them very, very tightly, but it worked for what I needed it for.

The shirt I was wearing said, Cinder-fuckin-Ella. Miller had gotten it at the gift shop yesterday after lunch, and I absolutely loved it.

After grabbing the white key card off the table by the door, I slowly unlocked the door, trying to make as little noise as possible.

After getting out of the room without waking Miller, I walked down the hall, nearly laughing my ass off when I heard grunting and moaning from every single room I’d passed.

Granted, it was only four rooms, and all four of them were occupied from our group, but it was still hilarious.

I pressed the down button, and waited patiently for the elevator to get there; although, as I found out last night, it was bound to take a while since there was over forty five floors in the hotel we were staying in, and we were on the thirty eighth.

I was partially hidden by the large marble column just to the right of the elevator, which was why, as Miller’s parents waited, they didn’t stop their conversation.

“I’m just saying, isn’t it kind of weird? Miller said he never wanted kids. Then, all of a sudden, he’s all right with the fact that he has her pregnant,” Miller’s mother said animatedly.

“I know, dear. But you don’t know what happened. He could really love her. You’ll just have to talk to him,” his father said tiredly, as if he’d been saying the same thing over and over again.

“She’s not his type, though. All of the girls I’ve met over the thirty five years he’s been alive, and not one of them has looked like her. Granted, he does look like he enjoys her company, but it’s just so surreal. He’d been so adamant about not getting married, and not having kids, that I thought for sure he’d be the last of my boys to ever have any, if ever,” she said in exasperation.

“You also don’t know that, either. Give her time. Give them time,” His father said softly.

“I know I need to, but he’s my baby. Does he love her? Because he’s going to be trapped with her forever. Literally, he’d never leave her. Do you remember when he got that puppy when he was younger, and we found out it had a heart defect?” his mother asked.

He must’ve nodded, because I didn’t hear the reply before she continued talking.

“And he refused to let him go. He’s got such a soft heart for those that can’t take care of themselves. Do you remember how we tried to take that dog back to the breeders, and he refused to let it go? He nursed him until his very last days, and then buried him in the backyard, all by himself?” His mother continued.

I choked.

Placing my clenched fist up to my mouth to keep in the sob that wanted to break free, I leaned my head against the marble column, so thankful it was there that I could quite possibly hug it.

“Are you okay, Micah?” Sloan asked worriedly.

“Fine. That wasn’t me,” Micah confirmed.

Luckily, I was saved by the doors to the elevator opening, and the two of them disappearing inside.

Coming out from behind the pillar once the door shut, I pressed the button for the elevator once again.

I wasn’t going to go to breakfast, though. Not anymore.

Was that what I’d done?

Was he really staying with me because of what I’d forced him to do?

I had forced him and, Jesus. What if I was just another case of pity to him? Someone he felt he had to take care of?

“Oh, my God. What have I done?” I asked desolately.

I’d ruined his life.

He’d been too good of a man to tell me no, and I’d been so fucked in the head at the time, only thinking about myself, that I hadn’t understood what I was asking of him.

After a long wait, the door finally pinged open, and I rushed inside.
