Let Me Stay - Page 17

“True. I am sure I will figure it out, but I am kinda hoping he figures it out on his own.”

“Do men figure shit out on their own?” she asks, laughing.

“I don’t know,” I reply, laughing. “He’s really smart. I have faith.”

“Brynn, that is crazy. You should tell him soon. You know as well as I do that secrets get you killed.”

“I know. As crazy as it seems, I already don’t know what I would do without Brendan,” I tell her honestly.

“You should definitely tell him before it is too late,” she says wisely.

“I agree. I just need to find the right time. I know it is selfish of me, but I do not want this to end. I want to stay with him,” I say as I pull the car into the parking lot of my apartment complex.

“I am sure that it will be fine. This is where you have been living?”

“Yeah. I know. It’s just as terrible on the inside,” I say laughing.

“I can’t wait to see it,” she says drily.

“It came furnished. What do you want from me?”

“You can never let Mom see this. This will make her lose her mind.”

“I know. That’s why you are here. I do not have too much stuff here. Just a few things.”

“Alright. Let’s get this over with and hit Starbucks on the way back to the city.”

“Sounds good.”

We go into the tiny apartment, grab all of my stuff, and I leave my key on the counter. It was a month-to-month lease, and I already let the landlady know I would not be renewing. We head back into the city after getting coffee.

I am so glad to be home. I missed my family, but after five hours without Brendan, I am going crazy.

I cannot wait until he gets home tonight.

Chapter 11

Brendan

If I hadn’t spent most of my working hours focused on Brynn’s past, I could have had my work done faster. Work has been building up since I met her, but I think I got it all under control now. It only took me until Friday to get it done, but now it is the weekend again, and I cannot wait to spend every second of it inside of Brynn. The things I’ve found out about her and her family aren’t much, but they’re pretty damning. I am surprised I didn’t put two and two together. The Vitalis are famous in New York. Rumored to be mafia, but no one has ever been able to prove anything. Several bodies are linked to Brynn’s brothers and cousins, but nothing has stuck in a court of law. It’s a pretty sweet setup actually. They have two companies—a food service group that delivers food to local restaurants and a small paper mill upstate. I already decided I won’t say anything about it to her. I’d give up everything in a heartbeat just to be with her. Her family isn’t a deterrent. Hell, she could be a murderer herself, and I wouldn’t be able to stop loving her. I’ll never stop.

Walking in the front door, I am greeted with the scent of pasta sauce—my stomach growls. I have not eaten since breakfast, and it is showing now.

“Smells amazing,” I say as I walk into the kitchen. The first thing I see is Brynn, in tight black spandex pants, bent over and reaching into the oven. I can see the red thong she has on through the threadbare fabric. My cock hardens instantly, just thinking about sliding into her from behind.

“Dinner’s almost ready,” she says, popping back up. When she turns, I see she has a cookie sheet with bread on it in her hands. She sets it down on a towel on the counter and looks up at me, finding me staring at her. “What?” she asks.

“You look beautiful,” I tell her because she does. Her face is pink from working in the hot kitchen. Her too-big shirt has slid off of her shoulder. I want to bite that shoulder.

“You crazy or something? I just threw this on to go down to the gym,” she says, brushing her bangs out of her face.

“You went out of the house dressed like that?” I ask, instantly jealous.

“Of course, I did. Why?”

“You can see straight through the ass of those pants. You can’t be showing other men out there what’s mine,” I growl.

“Oh my God! You can?” she asks, looking over her shoulder at her ass.

“Yeah, Cherry. You can. I can see everything.” She steps out from behind the counter, and the view is even worse. Even her pussy is perfectly outlined. “Sweet Jesus,” I murmur, causing her to look down.

“Shit. These are my favorite ones; I wear them all the time. No one has ever said anything. Not even my sister,” she laments. Getting upset that others saw her like this is not going to solve anything, so I change the subject.
