Dom (The Pack 4) - Page 75

She tilted her head up to meet my eyes and I quit growling. I stared at her, a question in my eyes and she nodded. The hand by her hip settled against her soft skin, my thumb stroking as the rest of my fingers kneaded her flesh. I lowered my head, the motion slow and even, as I gave her time to change her mind. She didn’t move even as I gave her every opportunity.

My lips brushed gently against hers, each slow stroke a question until her lips parted in invitation. I gripped her hip, as I carefully explored her mouth with my tongue, my decision to be gentle costing me as I struggled with the need to go further. My other hand found its way to her hip and I dragged her closer, lifting her until she balanced on her toes, her hips tilted toward mine until they settled against the hard bulge between my legs.

She wound her arms around me, a frustrated whimper escaping her at my slow pace. The sound snapped my tenuous control and I lifted her up, forcing her legs to wrap around me, as I buried my hand in her hair and angled her head so I could ravage her mouth. She moaned, the sound vibrating through me, as my tongue commanded hers and I walked her to the bed, all thought disappearing.

I lowered us down, my thigh wedging itself between her slender legs as my mouth trailed down her neck with hot open-mouthed kisses. When I came to the mark on her neck, I paused as she panted, my skin tingling. I lowered my mouth, gently tracing the spot with my tongue as she gasped. My hand stroked her side, almost spanning her waist and I rocked my thigh against her mound. She moaned, tilting her head back to give me better access to her mark.

My nose rubbed against her skin as I nuzzled her and I hesitated for a second before gently scraping my teeth over her mark. Her body was taut, balanced on the precipice when I bit down and she convulsed, her pleasure washing through me like a tidal wave.

It took a few minutes to recover. I’d flipped us over and Jess was sprawled across my chest, her legs on either side of my waist as I rubbed my hand up and down her spine.

“That was…” she trailed off, unable to come up with words to describe something humans rarely experienced.

“Life altering?” I offered, my voice deeper than normal as nerves shot through me. What I had just done was a lot more intentional.

“Yeah, you could say that,” she answered, shifting her body so she could look at me. “Was that mating?” She asked cautiously. We hadn’t had sex, but I could understand her confusion. What we’d just experienced was intense, more intense than I’d bargained on.

“No,” I answered quickly. “Well, yes, but not really,” I corrected myself thoroughly confusing Jess. I frowned, “I’m not explaining this right.” She chuckled, not in the least bit concerned. “You’re taking it better than I thought,” I mumbled and she smiled.

“Blame the afterglow,” she informed me and my eyes flared for a second. “Don’t get distracted,” she commanded, slapping my chest, but not moving from where she sat. She was essentially straddling me, but didn’t want me to get distracted. I shook my head as she said, “Explain.”

“I talked to Gregory,” I started and watched as she shook her head at my mention of the oldest Pack member.

“That’s one way to kill the mood,” she muttered and I tightened my abs, making her bounce slightly. “Okay, continue.”

“Anyway, Gregory knows the most about mates. There haven’t been as many recently, at least not like us.” I paused when it looked like she was about to interrupt but she didn’t and I continued. “My accidental marking shouldn’t have created such a strong connection, hell, it shouldn’t have done anything, but it did. I could even connect to you mentally. Granted, it wasn’t a strong connection but it was there. Normally, that’s unheard of. Gregory said he hasn’t seen something like it since his grandparents.”

“So, we aren’t special,” Jess cried dramatically and I rolled my eyes.

“No, we are,” I corrected. “Gregory’s never heard of any other mate being able to do this.”

“And what exactly is this?” She asked, her hands braced on my shoulders, the mark on her neck bright red. I gazed at her for a second, understanding there was more to her question.

“We’re able to communicate the way only full mates and pack mates can. Without actually completing the mating bond,” I stressed.

“No sex,” Jess clarified and I smiled.

“No sex,” I echoed.

“And you bit me again. Why?” Her gaze didn’t waver as she waited for my answer, needing me to tell her.

“Because…..because I can’t go through that again. Not knowing where you are. If you’re safe. What they might have –” I cut myself off, glancing away from her.
