The Bridesmaid's Best Man - Page 70

“Angie, what are you doing?” Brittany asked with a sigh of disapproval.

“Having the time of my life,” Angie replied, staring at the macho display in front of her. “Are you still having trouble understanding what’s going on? Do you want me to explain it to you again?”

“No, once was enough,” Brittany declared. “But this is supposed to be your bachelorette party. We should be staring at strippers instead of hockey players.”

Angie disagreed. She rarely got the chance to watch the local hockey team play and this was the first time she’d attended the game in the comfort of the sky box. It offered her the best view of the action.

“I don’t need strippers,” Angie told Brittany as she bit back a naughty smile. “I have my own at home.”

“Spare me the details. I don’t want to know. But you should realize that you broke the golden rule for bachelorette parties. You invited the guys!” She gestured at the window, where Patrick and Cole cheered loudly for their team.

“I wanted all my friends here.” Angie paid attention to the goalie defending the net with a blocked shot. She cheered and looked around the sky box. Tim and Steven were flirting with every unattached woman at the party and her brothers were enjoying the game with their girlfriends. It had taken a while before her brothers and her basketball buddies accepted Cole, but now they’d gladly given their collective blessing since they could see how happy he made her. Next week at this time her friends and family would be present when she married Cole in a casual yet intimate wedding.

Brittany picked at the hem of Angie’s oversize hockey jersey and shook her head. “Couldn’t you have at least worn a tiara?”

“I don’t need to.” She waved her ring finger in front of the woman’s face. “I have all the glitter I need.”

Brittany grasped Angie’s finger and studied the engagement ring. She clucked her tongue at the lack of manicure but lowered her head in defeat. “Okay, I admit Cole did well in choosing diamonds.”

“No, Brittany,” Cole said, slipping his arm around Angie’s waist and gathering her close. “I did well in choosing a bride.”

“Oh, please,” Brittany lamented as she watched Cole capture Angie’s earlobe with the edge of his teeth. “Can you save that for the honeymoon?”

“I can’t help it,” Angie said as she turned and looked up at Cole. She cupped his cheek with her hand and his features softened. Her breath caught in her throat when she saw the love and desire in his eyes. “When I’m with Cole, there’s no holding back.”
