Pieces of Us (Confessions of the Heart 3) - Page 103

“How am I supposed to be happy without you?” It was a breath.

A wisp.

A plea.

She tipped her chin up at me.

Our mouths collided.

Tongues and teeth and hands as we spun in the middle of the crowd.

Blissfully unaware of anything but us.

I tangled my hand in her hair, tongue taking all I could get.

Could feel the racing of our hearts, speeding faster, this feeling coming over us that demanded more.

So fucking much more.

I spun her through the crowd, edging her back and away. Needed to get her alone and fast.

Desire screamed. Wrapping us in these chains I never wanted to be freed from.

We stumbled out of the crowd and into the darkness of the hall. I pinned her against it. She gasped, arched, fingers digging into my shoulders. “Maxon.”

“Little Bird. You make me crazy. You know this, right? I lose all control, all rationale when it comes to you. Could kick that guy’s ass simply for looking at you. That’s so fucked up.”

She giggled. I swallowed it down, demanding more.

“Take me to your place. I need to feel you, my big, bad dragon.”

“Are you mocking me?” Could feel my grin beneath the press of her lips.

“Never,” she whispered, but she was grinning, too.

Happiness rushed through me, thicker than the jealousy.

I grabbed her by the hand and dragged her down the hall. We burst out the backdoor and into the drone of the night.

In a second flat, I had her against the wall again. The beat of the band vibrated through.

Thundered and pulsed.

With one hand, I thumbed into my Uber app while the other dug into her hip, my mouth consuming the sweetness of hers.

“Ride’s here,” I grunted through the kiss, not bothering to set her down as I carried her around the back and onto the sidewalk out front. Holding her with one arm, I opened the door.

The driver glanced back at us.

“Mack Chambers?” he asked for verification.

“That’s us,” I said, slipping into the back and dragging Izzy onto my lap.

The girl took it upon herself to straddle me.

I groaned as the car jerked into motion. “Shit, baby, you are in so much trouble for teasing me. You knew exactly what you were doing, didn’t you?” It was all a rumble between our frantic kisses, the girl starting to writhe, the heat from her pussy radiating against my dick.

“If you would paid attention for one second, you would have seen I was introducin’ him to Courtney. I told him to come to meet her. Faith suggested it. And you should have seen the electricity that struck up between them the second they saw each other. They’re gonna be good together, I can just feel it. Of course, you might have missed the sparks with the fire you were puffin’ from your nose.”

Oh, shit.

God, she left me out of control.

“I’m sorry,” I rumbled, really not sorry at all because I’d fight for this girl until my dying breath.

She was grinning more, her hands on my cheeks as she controlled the kiss.

“You think I wouldn’t feel the same if someone were going after you? You are my heart. The one I ache for. The one I need. The moon in my sky.” She murmured the last.

Nothing but seduction.

Our bodies ground, frantic, the intensity between us rising.

Unstoppable.

“No sex in the backseat of my car.” This from the driver, his voice spitting his irritation.

I squeezed both of Izzy’s ass cheeks, grinding her against me. “Clothes are on, man.”

At least for five more seconds.

He pulled up in front of my house, and I already had the door open, scooting out with Izzy still in my arms.

Door slamming shut, I carried her up the walk and onto the porch, fumbling to get the key into the lock at the front door. It banged open to the darkness, and I kicked it shut with my shoe, carried her down the hall and into my room.

She was giggling when I tossed her onto my bed, that sweet body bouncing, hair falling out all around her, tender smile on her face.

I stood over her. Overcome. Seemed impossible that this could now be my life.

“Izzy Baby,” I grated.

She climbed onto her knees and came to the edge of the bed, and she spread her hands under my shirt.

Flames.

She began to pull it up, that sweet gaze locked on me as she did, her mouth parting with need as she let her eyes rake over me.

Loved that, too. That she shook when she looked at me. A prisoner to this energy.

She tugged the fabric over my head. “You are so gorgeous, Maxon Chambers. Do you have any idea what you’ve done to me? I’m so over settlin’. So over bein’ alone.”

I stroked my thumb over the angle of her cheek. “You’re not alone. Not anymore. Not ever again.”

I slipped just my fingertips along the line of her delicate throat, riding it down to brush the swell of her breasts exposed by her slinky green shirt.
