The Scotch King (Scotch 1) - Page 52

I gripped his biceps automatically and laid back, enjoying just how full he made me. “Just answer me…” I was losing focus with this Scottish king on top of me.

“Answer.” He thrust into me. “What?” He pinned me to the mattress and shoved himself deep inside me, hitting my favorite sweet spot and making my knees shake. His hand fisted the back of my hair as he kept me still, his hips working hard to fuck me.

“Were you with someone else tonight?” I had to know the answer.

He sank into me then remained still on top of me. “What I do is none of your business. If I fuck other women, it’s none of your business.”

“I just want to—”

“Shut up.” His dark gaze bored into mine as he rocked into me again. “Don’t ask me again. Do you understand?”

I would never get my answer, and I felt a twinge of pain when I didn’t. Was it jealousy? Was it purely for health reasons? Or did I just want to know more about him? More about my enemy? “Yes, sir.”

“Good.” Sweat formed on his chest as he pounded into me. “Now fuck me, Lovely.”

When I woke up the following morning, Crewe was gone. He was never there in the morning, always somewhere else in the castle with the rest of his men. Sometimes he went into town for meetings. He was a busy man with a packed schedule.

I was tired of sitting inside this bedroom. I had a beautiful world right outside my window, but I wasn’t making the most of it. It wasn’t a resort with a pool and spa, but it had beautiful courtyards and a thousand rooms to explore.

I’d been stuck in here the entire time.

I ignored the breakfast tray sitting outside my door and walked downstairs in my active wear. I was desperate to stretch my legs and get my blood going in a different way besides sex. When I reached the entryway, Dunbar spotted me. “You aren’t making another run for it, bitch.”

I wanted to break his nose. “I’m just looking for Crewe.”

He walked toward me at the bottom of the stairs, looking terrifying with the scar on his face. He wore a black leather jacket with a gun on his hip and a blade. “Get your ass back to your room.” He snatched me by the elbow and yanked me with more force than necessary.

I twisted out of his grasp then slammed my hand into his nose. “Don’t touch me.”

He growled when he began to bleed then slapped me so hard across the face I flew to the ground. “You wanna play rough, cunt? Then we’ll play rough.”

I scooted away so he couldn’t grab me again, ignoring the burning pain on my cheek. “Crewe told you not to touch me like that.”

“Well, you’re trying to run away.” He stepped toward me then grabbed me by the ankle. “Rules no longer apply.” He yanked me hard across the stone floor, chaffing my skin across the grooves.

Dunbar smiled as he watched me struggle.

I did the only thing I could do. “Crewe!” I yelled at the top of my lungs, hoping he was still on the grounds and could hear me.

“He’s gone for the afternoon.” He yanked hard on my leg and forced my body to turn. “So, it’s just you and—”

“Let. Her. Go.” Crewe’s voice was amplified in the enormous room, reaching the top of the vaulted ceiling. His footsteps could be heard now that Dunbar had stopped breathing and pulling on my leg.

Dunbar immediately dropped me. “She was trying to run again.”

“I was not!” He wasn’t looking, so I slammed my foot into his shin.

“Fuck!” He hopped away then pulled his shin to his chest. “Cunt!”

“There’s plenty more where that came from, asshole.” Of all Crewe’s men, I hated him the most. And I desperately missed Finley, the one person who actually showed me some respect. Ariel was a bitch, but she didn’t lay a hand on me.

Crewe came to my side and looked down at me, his expression cold. “Were you trying to escape?” The implication of my actions filled the air between us.

“No.”

“Then why are you dressed like that?” He nodded to my workout gear.

“I was going to ask you if I could visit the grounds or go on a run or something.” I checked my leg to make sure it wasn’t sprained before I rose to my feet. “I’m tired of being cooped up in that room all day.”

When Crewe’s hostility dropped, I knew he believed me. “You can visit the grounds with Dunbar.”

That was worse than staying in my room all day. “Crewe, I’m not going to run again—”

“Don’t insult me,” he said coldly. “If the opportunity ever presents itself, we both know you’ll take it. Dunbar will escort you.” He turned to walk away like the conversation was over.
