My Fake Fling - Page 114

THEA

Ileaned my head back against the leather couch. It felt good to relax. I felt safe. I had my babies. It was nice to unwind with a good drink and a hot man. We were together. Despite the craziness of the night, it was a relief to just be able to sit with him.

He returned a few minutes later with a fresh drink. “You look good on my couch,” he said. “Hell, even the dogs look good in here.”

I smiled and looked around at the dogs that looked very cozy. “So, I got a call earlier today.”

“Why does that sound ominous?” he asked. “Like you’re about to lecture me about something.”

“I’m not going to lecture you,” I said. “Don and Peggy, the people that rescued you that night came in today. They wanted to adopt a cat. It turns out, they came into some money recently. And a new car. They told me they couldn’t tell me where the money came from, but they wanted me to tell you thank you.”

“For?”

“Don’t act like you don’t know,” I said. “It was you. You bought them a new car?”

He shrugged. “Their car wasn’t in great shape.”

I couldn’t stop smiling. “That was very generous of you.”

He tried to shrug it off, but I wasn’t about to let him get away with it. “How much money did you give them?”

“I’d like to say it doesn’t even come close to the value I put on my own life.” He chuckled. “But that might sound arrogant.”

“Can’t put a price on that,” I said. “It was very nice of you. Thank you for taking care of them.”

“I wish I could do more, but I think it would offend Don,” he said. “I don’t want them to think I’m a rich snob trying to buy them.”

“They are good people and you did a good thing.”

“Does that mean I deserve a proper praising?” he asked while waggling his eyebrows.

“Oh, do you think you deserve something special?”

He bobbed his head up and down like a little kid. “Don’t you feel it?” he asked.

“Feel what?”

“The need to fuck,” he said.

I leaned back. “Well that’s bold.”

“That’s what I felt after my near-death experience,” he said with a laugh. “I just wanted to fuck like rabbits. Like monkeys. Whatever. It was this visceral feeling. You were a big meanie and wouldn’t let me.”

“You were in no condition to do any kind of fucking,” I said with a cocky smile.

He groaned and closed his eyes. “You’re killing me.”

I leaned close and nibbled at his earlobe. “I might be willing to kill you softly. Tenderly. Or hard. Pick your poison.”

His breathing was raspy, telling me he was hot and hard. Maybe he was right about the adrenaline. I was suddenly feeling rather frisky.

“As much as I would like to do you right here on this couch, I think we should go upstairs,” he whispered. “I’m not sure I can perform with an audience.”

“Move slowly and quietly,” I replied.

He did just that. He took my hand and pulled me up. Kona lifted her head, ready to follow us. “Stay,” I ordered.

She whined and pouted but lay back down. He led me to the stairs. Once we were there, we rushed up the stairs as if our lives depended on it. He pushed the door open and pulled me inside. I heard it slam shut and was going to tell him to keep it down, but his tongue was down my throat before I could get the words out.
