Bad Mood Billionaire - Page 5

I’d left her everything else.

Without her, I had no idea who I was, what I wanted, or where I was headed. Work got me through the day to day until the divorce papers showed up. We settled everything between our lawyers over a course of three meetings. I gave her everything. The house. The cars. The rental properties. The furniture.

I didn’t want anything because I didn’t want her to come knocking on my door one day saying I hadn’t been fair in the divorce. I’d been more than fair.

Take it all and stay out of my life.

I swirled my bourbon around in my glass and tried not to think about how different my life was supposed to look right now. What could have been was inconsequential. She was gone, and she was having another man’s baby. She’d always wanted to be a mother and I thought I’d be the man to give her that gift and be by her side when we welcomed our child into the world, but things didn’t work out that way. She chose someone else instead.

Someone I thought would never betray me like he did.

If my best man taught me one thing, it was that you can’t trust anyone, and nobody owes you shit. If they want what you have and have the balls to reach out and take it? It’s theirs already.
