“Yes,” I agreed, opening the chain.

He leaned forward, and I fastened it around his neck, where it hung, as I’d hoped it would, right below his collarbone.

“It looks good,” I said, so pleased. “And you can wear this until we’re married, when I’ll get you a ring and—”

“I’m never taking this off,” he announced before tackling me onto the bed. “I love this thoughtful, perfect, wonderful gift, and how you could ever think you’re not the most romantic man is a mystery.”

“Well, see,” I began, pushing Cel’s hair out of his face so I could see his beautiful eyes, “apparently I have to be in love to have this romantic stuff come out, and I wasn’t in love before…so, you know, who knew?”

“I knew,” he said, chuckling. “I always knew.”

“It’s lucky we figured this out, then.”

“Yes, it is,” Cel agreed, leaning in to kiss me. “So very lucky.”
