The Billionaire Player (In Too Deep) - Page 59

Her inner muscles contracted and milked my dick, and she threw her head back when the ecstasy finally overtook her. With my name on her lips, she trembled and buried her face in the crook of my neck once she started coming down.

Wrapping my hands around her thighs, I held them in a tight grip and slid us both off the couch, careful to lay her down gently on the carpet before I sank into her again. She gave me a questioning look.

“One more,” I whispered.

She looked like she might protest until I started moving again.

A soft whimper caught in her throat, and I brought my lips to hers, kissing her deeply until she came again—and took me with her this time.

After that unexpected but mind-blowing interlude, I was happy to just lie there with her. Both of us flat on our backs on the rug in my living room, I’d never been so happy that I’d chosen a soft carpet instead of the woven one I’d been eyeing first.

There was something about Larisa that just drove me fucking crazy. I wouldn’t have been able to break away from her even for the short time it would’ve taken just to get to my bedroom. Although I’d admittedly had a lot of sex in my day, I couldn’t remember it ever having been this intense before.

I’d known since that night at the lake that kissing her was different than kissing any other woman, but being with her was just next level. If there were words to describe it, I didn’t know them. All I knew was for the first time ever, it had felt right.

Just when I was about to ask her if she felt the same way, she got up and scooped her dress off the floor. Okay, well I guess that answers that question. Clearly, she doesn’t feel the same about it.

“What are you doing?” I asked, hoping I was wrong even though it was pretty fucking obvious that I wasn’t.

“Getting dressed,” she said.

Fuck. So I really wasn’t wrong.

I pushed myself up on my forearms, naked as the day I was born but feeling absolutely no need to cover up. I’d never been ashamed of nudity before, but even that felt different with her. Natural. Like this was the way things should always be when we were together.

“Why?”

As she hooked her bra back in place, her panties already on again, she paused to frown at me. “What do you mean ‘why’? We’re done, right? I’m going home.”

I couldn’t tell what sort of mood she was in. She kind of seemed to be holding herself at a distance from me, but she didn’t seem mad or regretful, so at least that was good. “You don’t have to leave. It’s getting late. You’re more than welcome to stay the night. We don’t have to sleep out here. I’ve got a bed and everything.”

She stepped into her dress and gave me a tight smile as she shook her head. “You’re sweet. I appreciate the offer, but I don’t want to intrude.”

Before I could tell her she wouldn’t be intruding, she’d slid her shoes onto her feet and was still zipping up her dress as she reached for her computer bag. “Thank you for a lovely evening. Please thank Jeremiah and Steph for me, too. I’ll let myself out.”

One surprised blink later, and she was gone. I hadn’t even moved yet, but the door slammed shut behind her, letting me know in no uncertain terms that she’d been dead serious. She hadn’t been trying to play it cool and hadn’t been waiting for me to ask her again just to be sure that I really wanted her to stay. She was gone.

The one woman that I’d ever wanted to spend the night cuddling with after, and she hadn’t been able to get away from me fast enough. I thought about chasing her. I wanted to, but she would probably already be halfway home by the time I’d even gotten dressed, if she kept going at the speed she’d made her getaway at. More than that, I didn’t want to push her too far, too fast.

I was too afraid that she’d leave forever if I did, and sleeping with her so soon after she’d agreed to stay on the job had already been a risk. If I went after her now and begged her to stay with me tonight, I had a feeling I’d be signing the death warrant on the second chance I was getting with her.

So instead of running after her, I sank back down on the rug. My phone chimed with an incoming text message. It was only a couple of minutes after she’d left, but I was still disappointed when it turned out to be from Jeremiah instead of her.

Jeremiah: ;-) You’re welcome

Jeremiah: Also, while she was here and before you arrived, she agreed to talk to all your other friends to get more ideas for the house. Apparently, an hour with me gave her more insight into you than all the meetings you guys have had about the design so far.

I groaned and scrubbed my palm over the stubble on my chin as I considered the implications of that last message. I had a horrible feeling that all my buddies were going to try to play matchmaker, and none of them were exactly subtle.

Fuck.I might as well have chased after her. At least then I’d have signed the death warrant on my second chance myself. Now, it might just end up having all my friends’ signatures at the bottom of it.
