Lerin's Bride (Crystal Glass Dragons 3) - Page 14

Cringing, I backed away towards the apartment door.

“Sure, right.” I faked understanding. I just had to get inside. God, it was really my luck to fall into this kind of mess with a stranger.

“Please, let me prove it,” he offered.

“Okay, prove it.” Only once the words were out of my mouth did I realize the risk I was putting myself in by arguing back. Lerin could easily decide to kidnap me away under the guise of proving his point.

“You feel it too, right?” He took a step closer in desperation and I backed away further. Seemingly trying to recover the situation, he went on, “When I’m walking away or getting near, you can sense it like we’re a pair of magnets.”

“You can feel that?” I asked, frowning. “I thought it was just me being tired…”

“I was sent by a seer who told me you were my fated mate.”

I let out a nervous laugh. “I can’t be a…a fated mate, I’m a witch.”

“You can. You are one.”

“Look, I don’t—”

“Just feel this.” He closed the gap between us and kissed me.

My heart was beating so fast and loud that it felt like it would force its way out of my ribcage. I kissed him back on instinct. My body moved against him like it already knew everything about him.

That wasn’t normal.

Dizzy with confusion, I collapsed down onto a patio chair behind me. “There’s a magical kingdom?”

“It’s called Crystal Glass, I will introduce you to it someday,” he offered, his expression relaxing.

I looked to the sky we’d just returned from, confused and turned on, and bit my lip.

This was a new kind of crazy.
