Nothing Compares To You - Page 6

He grins and I see a lone dimple pop up on his cheek.

God he’s so sexy.

“This one?” I point to the thick red one and he nods.

I carry it over to the long table on the far wall with the door and ask, “Can you grab that cloth and spread it out for me?” and he does.

Once the cloth is laid out I nod to the stand, “and grab the stand please.”

He puts the book holder in the middle of the cloth and I carefully lay it on it so it’s propped up and easily opened, but not opened wide enough to damage the spine.

The book naturally falls to the middle of the pages and his eyes light up as he moves closer to me to examine them, “My God, this is his original theory! I just can’t believe this!”

I snort a little because this time I can’t hold the giggle back.

“What?” he turns to me.

“Nothing. I mean…well…your kind of a science geek huh?”

“Heyyy,” his dimple pops up a gain on the one cheek, “I like science what can I say?” he shrugs and a warm feeling rushes over me.

This man is shocking me left and right. I mean, what kind of science nerd is this hot and can get anyone he wants?

“I mean, just look at this,” he points to the page.

“Careful,” I react instinctively and move closer to him.

The closer I get the more I smell his oaky cologne and it tingles my senses.

Ugh, and he smells exquisite!

“Oh yeah,” he lifts his finger so it doesn’t make contact with the paper.

He begins to talk in some scientific gibberish and I shake my head.

“What?”

“I just have no idea what you’re talking about,” I chuckle, “this is so not my thing. Books are my thing…but not science.”

“I can tell,” his velvety voice purrs and my eyes widen.

“Is that so?”

“Well…uh…yeah…I can tell you love books…is what I meant to say.“

“Yeah, you’ve been coming frequently enough to see that huh,” I grin slyly in his direction, “I’m sure you see my head in some sort of book or worried about my shelves constantly.”

“Oh yes, I definitely notice you,” the electricity snaps between us again and I am sure it is now time to wrap this up.

No Mr. super model, you do not get in my panties today.

I take a breath, tucking a piece of hair behind my ear, “Okay, well, I hate to cut this short, but we really should be going. I still have to finish locking up the place.”

“Okay, sure. Do you want me to just put this back?”

I nod and move to the door while he situates the book carefully back in its place on the shelf. I put in the code, pull the handle and it makes a clunk but doesn’t open. I pull again and it does the same thing.

I feel the wind behind me as Mr. handsome-pants moves closer to me, “What’s wrong?” his breath cloaks my neck.

I yank a few more times, “um…I think we’re locked in,” I whisper.
