“Uh-uh. I’ve actually read some his work myself though.”
“Really? Because that’s the only book of his I can find in here. The man is brilliant,” my voice engages, forgetting I’m speaking to the woman of my dreams now.
“Yep, he is. And you can’t find anything else up here because,” she leans over and raises a hand to guard her mouth, as if anyone else was around to see, “the rest of his books are in the basement compartment.”
“The basement compartment?” My eyebrows rise, “I didn’t know there was such a thing.”
Her eyes seem to light up a little and she continues, “that’s because that’s where we preserve our most precious works. You’re not supposed to know,” her eyes light up a little and I think I’m finally starting to learn what makes this woman tick.
“Wow!” I’m stunned. I never thought of that, but I’m so intrigued.
Without even thinking I blurt out, “Gosh I’d love to see that room sometime. Do you think you could ever take me?”
