“Don’t do this. Come with me.” She begs, and for the first time ever, I see how glassy her eyes are.
My hands slide along her cheeks and into her long hair. I tip her head back.
“All my life I just wanted a family. With you, I finally have that, and I won’t allow anyone to take you from me. I will end this. I love you.” I kiss her lips softly. Relishing the feel of them against mine. The fullness of them. I pull back before either of us can take it further.
I walk back to the bathroom. I remember seeing something a moment ago that can help take care of the Mexican’s body. Sure enough, he was prepared to kill my woman and destroy her body. I grab the tarp and return to the office. The garrote is too embedded into his skin to remove, but I pull my knife free and clean it. Ana stands there watching me. I know she’s trying to come up with a way to stop me from going to Konstantin, but there is no other way.
I wrap the club owner’s body in the tarp and look around. I know from the chemicals I saw in the bathroom that he was planning to dissolve her body.
“Kotenok, check the closet and see if there is a barrel in it.”
She moves away from me, those heels begging to be used in my back again. I adjust myself while that image plays in my mind. If I can get this done quick enough, maybe I can have her one more time before I have to walk away from her.
“What the hell? Was the fucking asshole going to put me in that?” She points at the barrel.
I move to her side and roll it out into the office. I immediately get to work putting his body in the barrel and adding the chemicals. The smell hits right away. I close it up and seal it. Then I write and attach a note to have the barrel removed as soon as possible. I look around the office and notice Ana has cleaned up the blood from the floor while I dealt with the body. Nothing looks out of place. I don’t notice additional cameras. I grab her hand and open the door. The hall is empty. I lead her to the back stairs I scouted earlier. They exit out onto the alley behind the club.
I go claim her car and pick her up a block over so she’s not sighted.
