Unbroken 2 - Page 144

No.

Jesse peered down at his chest where her hands were pressed against. Blood flowed out of him, coating her skin. He looked up at her, staring into her eyes for a moment before he turned his head to look at Hunter. Hunter’s head was still up, still staring at them in stunned silence as Jesse’s mouth formed a faint smile. “It’s okay…” he whispered, assuring him gently. “It’s going to be okay…”

But Jesse fell to his side a second later and Skye screamed for help as she cradled his dying body. Hunter dropped his face to the floor, tears streaming out of his eyes as her screams turned to sobs.

Growling, he pounded his fist against the floor, anger crashing into him like a wrecking ball.

He lifted his head, eyeing the pool of blood spreading across the floor, inching its way to him, as though trying to claim him in its path of destruction.

Bodies flooded into the room. Legs moving fast. Shouts sounded. Hunter saw jeans in his peripheral, blurs of black leather jackets and gruff voices, and a pleading Skye that was suddenly losing it.

He tried—Hunter tried so fucking hard to go to her, but the dizziness, the pain, the swirling vortex of darkness came at him again.

It claimed him in seconds.
