The Wife Win - Page 57

I purse my lips in a stubborn scowl, poking him in the chest.

“Look at you, Big Man,” I chuff. “If you’re so smart, read my mind and tell me what I’m thinking right now.”

It’s meant as a joke to lighten the conversation, but something flashes dark in his eyes and he lifts the corners of his mouth in a sexy smirk. His voice is low and deep, aiming like an arrow straight to my core.

“I can’t read yours…but if you could read mine, you’d know how hard it’s been to act unaffected around you tonight when all I want to do is take you home, get you out of this dress, and fuck you.”

I’m so stunned and turned on by his dirty admission my breath catches in my throat. I brush my fingers over his knuckles as I lift my hand to my mouth, tracing the shape of my lips with my fingertips.

The room shrinks in the background and all I have in my line of sight is Marek, the most attractive and generous man I’ve ever met. The entirety of our time together has all culminated into tonight, igniting the atmosphere around us with all the small touches and quick glances he’s given me. The intensity in his confession is all too much. My body is ready to burst with desire and longing.

And if all I get is tonight and this weekend with Marek, so be it. I’d be a fool to pass it up.

“Well,” I tilt my head to the side with a coy toss of my hair. “You’re a very good actor. I think I’ll need you to prove to me later just how affected you were. When we’re alone. At the house.”

He clears his throat before downing the rest of his drink, setting it on the high bar table next to us. “Game on, Miss Conrad.”
