Paradise Found - Page 74

Alistair bursts out laughing and shakes his head.

“I didn’t sleep with all of them. But I’m also not going to lie and tell you that since you left, I haven’t been with other women. You vanished, and I thought I was never going to see you again.”

I can’t blame him for that because it’s the truth.

“It made me so insanely jealous seeing those women on your arm and knowing they would be in your bed too,” I tell him.

“I felt the same knowing you would be going to work every day, and another man or woman got to have you, and I couldn’t do a thing about it.”

“It seems we’re as bad as each other.”

He smiles while nodding in agreement.

“Least we have this week together,” I say, wrapping myself tighter around him.

“The other girl won’t be coming back?” he asks.

The pit in my stomach opens at his question. I thought we were getting somewhere.Does he want Sierra?I mean, that’s who he was booked in with, so I understand.

“Hey,” he says, pulling me from my wayward thoughts. “Where did you go?” he asks with a frown on his face.

“Inside my head.”

“By the looks of it … it didn’t look good,” he questions me.

“Do you want to spend your time with your original host?” I ask him honestly. I’m a big girl, and I can take whatever his answer is. I’ll be okay with it. This is his holiday. He is the guest.

“What? No. Have I not made it clear enough that I want you?” he replies sincerely.

“I understand this is your holiday.”

“Elle, come on … I’ve just found you again after all this time. I want to spend my time with you.” His forehead crumples into a frown. “I didn’t know if there was protocol or something about changing hosts. That’s what I was worried about … that maybe they would take you away from me again.”

Oh.That flutter in my stomach is back, and this time it’s because of happiness, not anxiety.

“It looks like Sierra might have broken her ankle. She won’t be coming back.”

“Is she okay? How did it happen?” Alistair asks, and the concern written on his face is so genuine.

“Her ankle twisted in a hole. It was lucky we found her as she had crushed her device and was unable to call out for help.”

Alistair’s eyes widen. “Now I feel bad for her … that she was outside in pain, and I was in the pool.”

“Lauren and I found her. She was lucky it was our day off, and we were on our way to the spa,” I explain.

“Your day off?” he asks.

“Yeah, the hours are longer on the island than in the city,” I answer, feeling a little weird talking about my job with him, even though he knows what I do.

“And now you have to work?” he asks with a frown on his face.

“Hey, who’s getting inside their head now?” I say, looking down at him. I lean forward and press a kiss to his lips. “I would have given up all of my days off to be here with you.”

“Really?” Alistair smirks.

I nod my head while biting my bottom lip. It’s the truth. I would give up the day spa to spend the time with him. “Yep,” I say, letting the word pop between my lips. “Are you okay spending your holiday with me?”

“I’m good with that.” He grins as he moves us through the water.
