Paradise Found - Page 35

“Oh my god, you’re the best. Thanks so much.” She grins excitedly.

Mr. King gives her a tight smile, a curt nod, and bids us goodnight.

“He isso much betterin real life.” Lauren chuckles as we watch him stride through the crowd like the king he is. “Go after him,” Lauren says, pushing me through the crowd.

“No, I can’t! You know the rules,” I hiss at my friend.

“The guy literally saved you from that asshole and was seconds from pummeling him. Go and say thank you, you know that’s not against the rules.” Lauren pushes me, and I go with a frown on my face.

I look back at her and shake my head, but she says, “Fuck off! Just do it.”

He’s at the bar talking to the staff, and they’re nodding at whatever he’s relaying to them, and then they disappear. He looks up as I walk through the crowd, gives me a shake of the head to follow him, then turns on his heel and takes off.

I’m not breaking any rules if I follow him, am I?All I’m doing is saying thank you for saving me from that complete Grade-A asshole.

He pushes through a set of ornate wooden doors that reads ‘Staff’.

Should I follow him?I’m not sure.

Maybe it’s for the best if I don’t.

The next thing I know, the doors open again, and he’s standing there holding it wide for me. I suck in a deep breath and decidefuck itthis time. I’ll be halfway across the world soon, and this won’t ever happen again. I step past him, and his scent of wood and earth filters through my nose while goosebumps lace my skin. This is not good.He doesn’t say anything as he strides before me along a white corridor, the only sound is the clicking and echoing of my heels across the floor. He turns right, and there’s a set of stairs, which he takes two at a time.

Yeah, not in these heels. I can’t match his pace.

Slowly, I follow him up the stairs to another level which is like a mezzanine floor that overlooks the entire club, from the VIP section all the way down to the lower levels. He’s walked through another door, and I find him standing in front of a desk which must be his office. He’s dressed in dark denim jeans and a navy button-down shirt with the sleeves rolled up, exposing his tanned, muscular arms. There are a million and one monitors off to the right of his desk, paperwork strewn across it behind him. There are two gray armchairs on either side of the desk.

“Close the door,” he commands, and a shiver creeps up my spine upon hearing his demanding voice.

I do as I’m told and shut the door behind me.

Now, thisiscrossing a line, one I swore I would never do.

A frown is deeply etched across his forehead. “I’m sorry that man touched you like he did.” The anguish and anger are etched across his face.

“It’s not your fault,” I reassure.

“It happened on my watch,” he growls, raking his hand through his hair in frustration.

“But you put a stop to it too,” I say.

Those hazel eyes land on me, and my entire body shivers under his intense gaze.

This is not good.

This issonot good.

Just thank him and go, Elle.

“I just needed you to hear from me that I’m okay … well, I’ll be okay. And please don’t feel bad for what happened. It happens a lot, unfortunately,” I explain. “That’s all I wanted to say.” As I turn and reach for the doorknob a few seconds later, he has me pushed up against the door, and his lips are caressing my ear.

“Seeing his hands on you made me want to rip his eyes out for daring to even look upon you.” I close my eyes and soak in his warmth and strength for the tiniest of moments as his hand lightly runs down my side, sending a shiver over me. “Now you’re here with me and dressed like pure and utter sin, I can’t get you off my mind.”

Shit.

“My dick hasn’t gotten hard since that night, and now …” he presses his hard dick against me, “… you’ve fucking mesmerized it.”

I can’t stop thinking about him either or that night. This is not good.
