Forever Mine - Page 165

My hand smoothes down her back over the squishy rolls of her hips. I’m reminded of all the times I've dug my fingers into her flesh there and come inside of her, and my cock perks up. Down, boy. Fuck’s sake, not now.

I remove my hand from her lower back and place it on her hair, reminding me again of all the times I've fisted her curls. Fuck. She was right when she said the dog took after me. I'm not much different.

I pull away before she notices my raging boner. “Are you okay? I'm sorry.”

She wipes her cheeks. “I’m fine. I just miss him. He was always there when things were tough. He would always lick my face when I was sad, and I just miss it.”

“I can always lick your face if it will cheer you up.” I chortle, hoping it will make her smile.

“You were usually the reason I was upset.” A small laugh escapes through her tears. “I don't want you to lick my face.”

I dip my head to look in her eyes. “You want me to lick something else?” I titter.

She smiles, pushing her wet tear-stained cheeks up, flashing her cute dimples. “Cal. Stop. You’re as filthy as Teddy was.”

“You said that before.”

“It’s true.” She swats my chest.

I grab her hand and hold it against my heart. “He was pretty randy, though, wasn't he?”

She smiles “He was.”

My thumb strokes her cheek, and she lifts her face, ready for my lips. The door from the lounge swings open. We both step away from each other like two teenagers that have been caught.

Cairen places his tablet on the worktop. “All right. I’ll play outside. Can I have my water gun?”

Steph looks all flustered and shakes her head. “Just because the sun’s out doesn’t mean it’s warm enough to be playing with water guns.”

He stomps upstairs. Steph carries on tidying the kitchen, although it’s already clean. I think she’s just making up excuses to stay in the kitchen while I work. I love her being near me, but I’m not actually getting much done.

Cairen walks through the kitchen door holding something under his hoodie. He has a mischievous smirk on his face, and I know the little shit is up to something.

Steph notices too and spots the wet patches on his sleeves. “Why are you all wet? What have you got under your hoodie?”

“Nothing.” He walks past me towards the back door.

Steph tugs on his hoodie, pulling him back. “Show me. Have you got your water gun after I said no?”

He tuts and opens his hoodie, dangling a big pale pink oblong shaped balloon filled with water in front of us. “It’s just a water balloon.”

The tip resembles a nipple, and it’s apparent that’s no fucking water balloon. Steph’s eyes dart to me as the colour drains from her face. “Where did you get that?”

“It was in a packet in the bathroom. I saw them on YouTube. Somebody put one over their head.” The kid laughs like it’s the funniest thing he ever saw.

Steph’s eyes look between me and Cairen. “You can suffocate putting this over your head. Never do that, will you? Hand it over. These aren’t toys.”

“What are they then?”

“Cal?” Steph’s eyes plead with me.

“Mate. You know they were my water balloons.” I smile, so he knows I’m not mad. “Grab us the box.”

He pulls the small box from his pocket. I’m thankful it’s just my stash of johnny’s he’s found, and not my bag of weed. My brain ticks, trying to remember where I put the weed, probably still in my jean pocket. I tear open a packet and fill it up from the tap, making an even bigger one than Cairen’s.

“What are you doing?” Steph says through clenched teeth.

“Water balloon fight. Want one?” I throw the balloon in the air and catch it. She folds her arms with a frown on her face.
