Forever Mine - Page 44

My body collapses onto the table in front of me, burying my head into my folded arms. Closing my eyes, I’m back at uni again, watching him flirt with his new girlfriend at a bar. I heard his voice behind the partition while sitting in a booth. Every word he uttered made me gag, just like now. If I’d eaten anything this morning, I’m sure I would have spewed by now.

“Are you single, Callum?”

“Yeah.” He says it so matter-of-factly, with no hesitation.

“Why don’t we get our heads together in London tonight? We can discuss the marketing, and you can show me exactly how you appreciate a woman.”

I can’t help but stare at her, my eyes now torturing me along with my ears. She bites her red bottom lip, waiting for his response.

He clears his throat. “I’m sure I can show you a thing or two.”

Her mouth parts and her eyes sparkle, mirroring my own glistening eyes, but for very different reasons. I’m sure she could show him a thing or two as well.

“Like what?”

A huff escapes Cal’s lips. If I could see his face, I’m sure he would have his head tilted, stroking his stubbly jaw with a sinister but sexy-ass grin plastered all over his face.

“Do I have to spell that out to you, too?”

Her red nails circle the table. “I like to know what I’m getting myself into.”

If he says he’s going to spank her arse, I’ll rip his friggin’ head off.

“I bet you like it rough.”

She continues to bat her lashes and bite her full lip. “Is that how you like it, Callum?”

“Maybe.”

Oh my gosh, get a friggin’ room. If this conversation continues, they’ll join the train equivalence of the mile high club. Is that even a thing? I wouldn’t know, I haven’t done either. The high-speed club, getting railed? The whistle stop? Why am I thinking of this nonsense? Although anything is better than listening to these two. The acidity burns my throat. I would cry, but my tears have all evaporated when my blood reached boiling point several minutes ago.

“I’ll let you be rough with me if you make it worth my while.”

Callum clears his throat and chuckles. I bet he’s hard, watching her lick her lips and finger shapes on the table with her long nails.

“I’m staying at the Hilton.”

He stretches out an arm. “Pity I won’t be there.”

Her face drops. “Oh? Are you only in London for the day?”

“Morning, actually.”

“Another time then?” She’s desperate now.

His hand smooths over the top of his hair. “Yeah, if you’re ever in Sydney, look me up.”

“You live in Australia?”

“I’m flying over there at midday. I’m not sure when I’ll be back.”

She slumps her shoulders, waving her hand in the air. “That’s just typical. I meet the man of my dreams, and he’s moving to the other side of the world.”

No sweetheart, he’s the man of my dreams, even if he is a dick most of the time. A big friggin’ dick, too, in every way.

Callum huffs out a laugh. “The man of your dreams, aye?”

She bites her lip, then reaches in her bag and pulls out a business card. “Here, next time you’re in the UK, call me.”
