My Grumpy Billionaire - Page 36

I shake myself mentally. Back to work, girl, back to work.

“I mean, you’ve described it well enough, but…it’s like something that seems beyond the realm of reality,” Ellie says.

“Believe me, it was very real.” I sigh like a chocolate addict in front of a Godiva shop, then take a huge sip of coffee.

“You sure you didn’t rate his performance higher than it deserves because you’ve been deprived?” She taps the table. “Unfortunately, Todd’s dragged down your bar real low. His dick’s too small to be useful.”

I almost spit, but manage to close my mouth in time, although my nose stings a little as I contain a hysterical giggle. Ellie says she can tell everything there is to know about a guy’s penis by just looking at him head to toe. I don’t know how accurate her statement is, since I haven’t seen the penises of the men she’s analyzed.

“Well, we’re selling the fantasy of the perfect orgasm, which our products deliver consistently, thanks to you and the R&D team.” I don’t want to discuss my ex’s dick size. Actually, I don’t ever want to think about his dick at all. It’s like God was feeling rushed when He created Todd.

Ellie takes a little bow. “Thank you, thank you. And keep going.”

I laugh. “You know what I think about you.”

“Knowing it and hearing it are two different things.”

“When we launch the Midnight God line, I’ll give you another raise and a fat bonus. How about that?”

“Oooooh, financial reward! So much better than empty words.”

“Anyway, we need products that don’t just deliver consistent orgasms, but incredible orgasms. Ones that leave you shaken to the core.”

Ellie gives an evil scientist laugh. “Our vibrators are really good at shaking your core.”

“Of course,” I say with pride. “But the orgasms could still be…more.”

I think back on how it was with the Midnight God. Every muscle in my body tensed and melted into goo. The peak jacked me up with such intense electric bliss that I thought I’d die from sheer ecstasy. But that wasn’t where it ended; pleasure zinged through me like aftershocks after an earthquake. Everything about that night left me wrecked—in the most amazing way.

My best friend props her chin in her hand. “So even after two weeks, you really, honest to God, haven’t changed your opinion?”

“No.” I sigh dreamily. “I’d love to run into him again.”

“How would you recognize him?” Practical Ellie. There’s a reason she double-majored in mechanical engineering and marketing.

I think back to the encounter, my belly doing a triple twist and my face and neck heating. “By the way he smells. The way he moves. The way he makes my heart flutter… Ellie, the man is perfect. If I see him again, I’ll recognize him for sure. Like this”—I snap my fingers—“just from my physical reaction.”

“But you might not see him again,” she says sorrowfully.

“All the good men aren’t just taken. They also aren’t local.”

The corners of her lips turn downward. “You should’ve gotten his name. He could’ve fallen in love and moved out here for you.”

“I know.” I deflate a little. “Staying anonymous seemed like the smart thing to do at the time. But now that I think about it, I’d been drinking, so my head probably wasn’t that clear.”

“Most definitely not. I blame the airline for keeping me in St. Louis, because I would’ve made sure to get his name and number.” Suddenly Ellie shakes her head. “Actually, never mind. If I’d been there, you might’ve never run into him because I would’ve taken care of Todd.”

True. Todd has been on Ellie’s shit list forever. Probably because he tried his best to see if Ellie would leave Silicone Dream for “a better opportunity in another city.” Like New York. Or better yet, Hong Kong. He couldn’t stand that I was close to somebody who hated his guts. “Okay, no Todd talk. Midnight God. That’s what we’re here for.”

“Why not hire a private investigator to track him down?”

I wrinkle my nose. “Don’t you think that feels a little too…stalkerish?” After having Todd track me down everywhere, including New Orleans, I’m not too keen on doing the same to the Midnight God, even if it’s for a good reason.

“It’s not stalking if the other person likes it. He’ll probably feel honored if you pursue him.” Ellie shrugs, back to her brisk, businesslike self. “Well, anyway. I think we should start with a dildo and vibrator first. They’re the classics.”

I nod slowly. “But I want them to be unique and interesting in some way, too. They can’t be like any dildos and vibrators on the market. The Midnight God isn’t like other men.”

“Got it. Peterson’s out of town until next week, but when he gets back we can start in earnest.”
