Faking It with the Frenemy - Page 116

?She didn’t cut it all off. I can still charge up to five thousand a day, in case of emergency.”

“Where can you find a chartered plane that cheap?” Nate jokes.

“You can’t. So I had it charged to my brother’s expense account.” Yuna grins. “He loves me, hahaha. Now come on. Enjoy!” She gestures with a flourish of her arm.

Wyatt and I approach the pastry carts and each take a plate. The other guests do the same. I pick one of the two pastries up. It’s still warm to the touch. I take a small bite, curious. If Yuna sent a chartered plane to get them all the way from Tokyo, it must be amazing.

The outside is light and flaky, and the inside is full of thick cream that tastes like cheesecake. But it isn’t overly sweet or cloying. Just rich and surprisingly elegant.

“Wow,” I say. “This is like cheesecake, but better.”

“This one’s chocolate,” Wyatt says. “But it’s like mousse.”

I look down at my plate. So the other one is probably chocolate. Awesome. I take small bites to savor the cheesecake flavor as long as I can before moving on to the chocolate.

“Is there more?” Court calls out to Yuna.

“Yes. Do you like them?”

“They’re amazing,” Court’s fiancée Pascal says.

“What are they called?” Ryder says around his bite. “I need to make sure my assistant can get me some.”

That’s so like him. He probably missed the part where Yuna said she had to charter a plane. Or maybe he doesn’t care.

“They’re called otona no kuriimu pie.”

“Ah, geez,” Wyatt says.

“Otona…what?” Ryder asks.

“Otona no kuriimu pie.”

I try to memorize the name. It might be something Salazar can have flown in to surprise Ceinlys with. That’ll make him happy.

“What does that mean?” Evie asks.

Yuna turns to her with a bright, happy smile. “Adult cream pie.”

Chapter Fifty-One

Kim

Somebody laughs at the same time someone else starts choking. More laughter mixes with more choking. A lot of back pounding ensues.

I look down at my plate and stare at the thick, creamy white filling peeking out from the pastry. Adult cream pie? Really?

I bite my lip, trying not to laugh, because there’s still a small bit of the pie in my mouth and I don’t want to join the choking party.

I look at Wyatt. He raises a hand. “Hey. Not my cream.”

His response makes me giggle a little, even though part of me is mildly horrified. I mean…there’s no way Yuna means what she said, but…

“I can’t make it taste like chocolate,” Wyatt continues. “If I could, I wouldn’t be some lousy billionaire. I’d be worth trillions.”

“What’s wrong?” Yuna asks, her perfectly shaped and drawn eyebrows pulled together.

Anthony gapes at her. “Did you just say what I think you said?”
