Made in Vengeance - Page 161

NIKOLAY

I watchedMikhail on the ride over to the airstrip. We had a small private jet waiting for us already, ready for takeoff as soon as we got there.

The man had been quiet ever since we left the penthouse.

I knew he was worried about Catalina.

And his mom.

His fist clenched at his side.

“It’s going to be okay,” I said.

He grunted in response. I shared a look with Damien.

Fuck, how could things have gotten so messy so quickly?

I thought back to Catalina.

She must be angry with me for tying her up.

But if the choice were between making her angry or putting her in danger, I would choose her anger any day.

We pulled up to the private airport, and Mikhail readied himself, about to get out the door when his phone dinged with a text notification.

Damien and I looked at him as he read the message.

He looked up at us with disbelieving eyes.

“What is it?” Damien asked.

“That was Ricci. He said she’s okay … that he moved her to a different location as soon as I had visited her.”

My heart pounded loudly in my chest as the blood rushed up to my ears.

This was—

“This is a fucking trap,” Damien said, voicing my thoughts. “Take us back home, and hurry,” he told Kirill.

The man turned the car around, and we sped out of there.

My fist clenched on my lap.

If this was a trap, who was it set for?

I was afraid the answer was for no one in this car, but for the girl I had just tied up in my bed.

“Hurry up,” I said to Kirill. He nodded and sped faster.

We pulled into the intersection and hit traffic.

“What the fuck? Can you go around this?” Mikhail asked.

“I can pull out and take the back road,” Kirill said gruffly.

“Do it,” Damien said.

Please let her be okay. Please.
