Made in Vengeance - Page 146

CATALINA

By the timewe got back to the house, the others still weren’t back yet, and though I hadn’t expected them to be, I was still a little disappointed.

And feeling so out of it, I didn’t know what to do or think.

The elevator doors opened, and Nikolay pulled me inside.

I looked up at him, but he wasn’t looking at me. His jaw clenched, and I knew he was pissed that I’d asked Damien to let them go.

“Nikolay.”

“Not now, princess.”

“How’s Leo?”

“In the hospital. He’ll be fine,” he answered curtly.

I let out a small sigh of relief and faced forward, taking in our reflection in the glass of the elevator doors in front of us.

I looked like how I felt.

A mess.

My hair was all over the place, tangling at the ends, and what little makeup I did have on this morning was smeared under my eyes. My skin was pale, and my eyes looked glassy, probably from whatever drug they had given me before.

And Nikolay was ignoring me, which only worked to piss me off.

I walked out without looking at him when the elevator doors opened to the penthouse suite.

He was like a bull, his nose flaring, not saying anything, but he followed me.

I turned and glared at him, crossing my arms. “What are you doing?”

He mimicked my pose but didn’t say anything.

“I would like some privacy.”

Still nothing. But he wasn’t moving. I wouldn’t be able to move him if he didn’t want to be moved.

“Nikolay.”

He shook his head.

“What the hell is that supposed to mean?” I asked, holding my arms out in front of me.

Still nothing.

“Fine,” I said, grabbing my toothbrush from the sink and forcefully squirting some toothpaste there. Some of it got on the sink, but I didn’t care about the mess.

I ignored him while I brushed my teeth.

My mouth felt dry and gross. It was a relief to be able to do this, considering where I had been all day, and the fact that I would still be there if they hadn’t found me.

My eyes met his in the reflection of the mirror.

How did they find me?

I spat and rinsed my mouth before turning to him, leaning against the counter.
