Made in Vengeance - Page 141

The men from behind leaned forward suddenly, and then I felt a poking sensation in the neck.

I gasped as he pulled away.

I opened my mouth, but nothing came out.

I felt disoriented, and before I could scream, everything became blurry until, finally, darkness took hold.

And then … nothing.

* * *

I wokeup in a tiny room.

On a bed.

I was still in the same dress I had been in when they took me. Aside from the small ache on my neck where the man pricked me, I wasn’t injured.

How strange?

At least this room looked clean, and what was more, I wasn’t bound to anything, but the metal bars on the tiny window above me and the metal door holding me in here was enough to tell me it didn’t matter if I wasn’t bound.

I wouldn’t be getting out of here.

I climbed off the bed and looked around the room.

Just for anything to help me escape.

I let out a frustrated sigh when all my hands felt were four metal walls surrounding me inside my new prison.

Fuck.

Damien, Mikhail, and Nikolay would surely be going crazy right about now.

Someone took me from right under their nose.

This was their territory. No other rival gang would have dared touch me. So perhaps it wasn’t a local gang, but something—someone else. Someone much more sinister than I could imagine.

Beads of sweat rolled down my forehead, even though it was cool in the room.

I went to the door and looked out a tiny window. I didn’t see anything or anyone, save for a dark hallway that wasn’t unfamiliar to the one in Gabriel’s basement.

I took a deep breath and tried to keep from getting sick. It wouldn’t do me any good, and right now, I would need all my strength to get out of this hellhole.

I backed away from the door when I heard a clanking to the left of the hallway. I stared at it in anticipation. But no one came for me.

I wondered what they were trying to do. Did they take me as some sort of leverage against my men? And if so, did that mean they had made contact with them?

But even then, how would my men find me?

Hopelessness weighed me down, and it took everything for me to walk back to the bed and not sit on the dirty floor and give up.

I didn’t know how long I had been unconscious, but the sky was dark.

I sat back down on the bed and looked at the door.

Maybe an hour or so later, I heard footsteps approaching. I sat up on the bed, tensing as I watched the door.

I flinched when the lock clicked open, and then the handle moved.
