Made in Vengeance - Page 127

CATALINA

I feltlight the next day.

I knew it had to do with my confession, and Nikolay stayed close to my side as I told Mikhail and Damien, and they reacted the same as Nikolay. They comforted me, but they weren’t mad.

They didn’t use their fists or call me worthless. I had thought Damien would be the most upset, since he would want an heir to take over the Bratva one of these days … wouldn’t he?

I didn’t know, but the way I’d feared their reactions days before almost felt silly now, even if I knew it wasn’t silly, considering all I went through with Father.

But now, things were resolved in the best way possible, and I was enjoying life here in New York.

Following Nikolay’s advice, I tried to find my purpose.

But I didn’t know what that was.

For the first time in my life, I was faced with choices.

So many choices.

Even if it was nothing compared to other people, it was more than what I was used to, and I felt overwhelmed, but in the best way.

I was home, having gotten ready for the day an hour before, but now I didn’t know what to do with my time or what I wanted to do today.

My men left early this morning for a business meeting. I didn’t know about what, and they were gone before I even woke up, leaving a note behind telling me to be good.

No doubt Nikolay was the one to write it.

I was alone in the enormous penthouse.

Now that I had a chance to take it in, I couldn’t believe this new strange castle-like place was now my home.

There was a total of four bedrooms. All the men lived here together, and now me and I had my own room. It was as if they were preparing for when they would share a woman all along because I got the master bedroom. A king-size bed took center in the huge room, big enough to fit all my giant men and me in there, and while I hadn’t explored their rooms, I looked forward to it.

The living area consisted of an open concept, with the kitchen taking space in the far back and looking out to the living room. A white L-shape couch took up most of the space there, sitting directly in front of a huge flat-screen TV mounted to the wall just above the fireplace.

But what was really impressive was the floor-to-ceiling windows that took up two walls, looking out to all the skyscrapers.

New York looked beautiful from where I was, on top of a tall building and looking down at the crowds of people walking around like ants.

I was sure Leo was somewhere in the building, and I also knew if I wanted to go somewhere, I would have to call him first.

I didn’t feel like leaving the safety of the penthouse. Not yet, at least.

I let out a small sigh and jumped a little when I heard the front door opening and closing, but it was only Damien walking in.

I was still in my room, but the door was open, and I could see him slowly walking over to me.

He paused at the threshold.

I looked at him.

As usual, he was in a black suit, but this time he had on a maroon tie and white shirt.

His beard was neatly trimmed, and his dark eyes took me in with some sort of emotion I couldn’t identify.

He was also carrying a familiar-looking white container, large wooden sticks, and large white strips of cloth.

I crossed and uncrossed my legs, knowing where he was going with this. But the question was, was he going to do it himself?
