Made in Vengeance - Page 13

I turned back and glared at him. He winked at me.

Fuck.

I walked to the bathroom in a sort of daze.

Damien looked at his phone while I moved around the room. It took me longer than it should have to get ready.

I grabbed a pair of blue jeans and a black T-shirt with a V-neck.

I didn’t have any makeup, and my hair was brushed straight down my back. But by the way Damien was looking at me, you would think I was in the prettiest dress in the world, with my face done by the world’s best makeup artist. I could feel myself blossoming under his heated gaze.

“Good enough to eat, pet.”

He smiled, baring his teeth and looking very much like the Big Bad Wolf.

I was still a little wary of him, but my fascination, my desire to be as close to him as possible, overshadowed all the wariness. I slowly made my way over. He grabbed my hips and pulled me closer, between his spread thighs.

I clutched his shoulders.

“Nervous?”

I shook my head.

The look he shot my way told me he knew I was lying. He didn’t call me out on it, though. Instead, he stood and snaked his arms around my waist.

“Dinner time.”

“Nikolay said I’m not supposed to have anything but soup.”

As I said it, I made a face, and he shot me an amused look.

“Some other food should be okay in moderation. You’re healing. You’ll need the strength.”

His eyes heated, and he leaned down, whispering in my ear. “You’ll need it to handle three men, pet.”

A stuttered breath came out of me, my legs trembling, and I probably would have tripped had Damien not tightened his hold on me.

He chuckled softly against my ear.

We made our way downstairs.

It was much bigger than I imagined, much more ostentatious, and just as cold as I had predicted from the brief glance I got from it earlier when I woke.

We didn’t linger. Damien took me through another large room.

Men I didn’t know stood guard, and I moved closer to Damien, trying not to make eye contact.

A familiar voice spoke, drawing my attention. I couldn’t help the smile on my face when I found Nikolay sitting at the huge dining room table, playing with his knife. He was talking and laughing with another man.

I searched my mind for his name.

Gabriel.

Their friend.

The man in question turned to me, his dark brown eyes taking me in with a curious look. I paused, my heart stuttering in fear.

He really did look like Luis.
