Captured By The Mercenaries - Page 75

Colby frowned in confusion, not picking up on the fact that Rafe was all but pissing on her in a territorial display for the other men in the room.

“I’m Colby. I’m a Unite-”

“She’s with us,” Rafe said, cutting her off.

Brandon and his team narrowed their eyes on him. They’d heard enough to know she’d been about to say United States. They were figuring out she was a citizen. “This going to be a problem, Rafe?”

“No,” Colby answered. “I’m here of my own free will. Now can you stop pussy footing around so we can find that bomb? I’m EOD. Get me to the bomb.”

Brando let out an ear splitting laugh. “Sure thing. We’ll help you search.”

“Before we go… I’ll need a few things.”

“Follow me,” Brando told her.

We went deeper into the house and he opened up a door. I whistled as we stepped through. A prepper would bust a nut just looking at Brando’s stash room. There was all kinds of shit in here.

Colby spun around, her eyes scanning the items. She gave Brandon a look of disbelief at some of the equipment he had in storage. “I don’t suppose you have a Stingray in here?” she asked with a laugh.

“A what?” he asked.

“It’s a blade of water that cuts through the metal on an IED and scrambles the insides of the bomb… Never mind,” she said and started picking up tools and shoving them into a nearby backpack. “These will have to do.” It only took her minutes to find what she needed. “Okay, I’m ready.”

Brandon handed out radios. “Channel one. Keep the chatter to a minimum.”

“Umm…” We all looked at Colby. “If you find the bomb, make sure you’re at least fifty feet away before you key that radio. The static charge could set the IED off.”

“I thought you said it was a dirty bomb? Not an IED?” Brandon asked.

Colby took a deep breath before answering. “To keep this quick, think of it as both. An IED with biological or chemical poison strapped to the explosive. The detonator, the actual bomb, will be his normal IED. Got it?”

“Noted,” Brando said, sending me a look of amusement. It was clear he was impressed by her and hell, so was I.

“When this is over and we’re not dying of biological toxins I’ll explain it in better detail, right now we have to go.”

We left the house and split up to begin searching the alleyways. Colby went with Arsen and the rest of us split up to give ourselves a better chance of finding the bomb.
