Captured By The Mercenaries - Page 37

I explained to him that I disarmed bombs. His brows shot up and a grin formed on his face. “And you called me an adrenaline junkie.”

Laughing, I conceded that he was right, we were a lot alike in that way.

“Could you show me?”

“What?” I asked in shock.

“I like to learn new things. Maybe you could show me how to take apart a bomb sometime.”

“Sure, just let me find a bomb out here in the desert and I’ll teach you everything you need to know.” I responded to keep the mood light hearted. His laugh was warm and curled around me. It was impossible not to smile and laugh along with him.

The reality was unless we got back to civilization, or Rafe somehow managed to get an IED out here, I wouldn’t be able to show Sig anything. I had a feeling it wasn’t completely outside of the realm of possibility that Rafe might be able to procure something as dangerous as a bomb. Not that he would have a reason to, but he seemed to be able to get damn near anything he wanted, even out here in the middle of the desert surrounded by nothing but sand and camels.

Silence fell between us until Sig’s arm shot up. He pointed up. “There’s Orion.” His finger traced the warrior’s form made up of stars. “He’s my favorite.”

I laughed and shook my head. “Of course he is. A warrior of skill and prowess,” I said in a sarcastic tone.

He shrugged his shoulders, but flashed me a grin. I decided then and there that was my favorite thing about Sig, his light heartedness. He seemed to be the complete opposite of Rafe. One was dark, the other light, in looks and personalities.

How was it possible that I was attracted to them both? By all accounts it should be impossible that they both drew me to them. Then again, many would find being attracted to three men at once odd. I certainly wasn’t used to the idea.

I’d been thinking that over and though I wasn’t comfortable with it yet, I was coming to grips with the fact that somehow it was the truth. That didn’t mean I was giving in, or ready to give myself over to them.

Although that option was trying to force its way onto the table. My body seemed to be agreeable to the idea. Which just reminded me that I needed to go before I lost myself in them. It would be far too easy to do. I was fighting every desire as it was and I’d only been here a short time. The more time I spent around them, the harder it was going to get to deny myself.

If I wanted my plan to work, I was going to need to do a better job of tempering my anger. It was easy around Sig and Arsen. Rafe was another matter. He got under my skin. It was a skill of his, that he could hone in on the one thing that was going to piss me off, and then he just started picking at it.

“Which constellation is your favorite?”

I shifted until I was turned on my side toward him. A lock of blond hair had fallen over his forehead and he looked so fucking sexy…and earnest. “What are you doing, Sig?”
